Albanians risk receiving only 60% of their money in the foundations

The bank raises the dollar exchange rate to reimburse the victims of the pyramid schemes. “Gjallica” contracts on the market

The people are burning, the parties are combing their hair

Instead of technical solutions, politicians talk about political solutions Are the parties and those in power, whether supporting or opposing, the ones who do not understand the plight and pain of several hundred thousand Albanians, or are Albanians the ones who do not understand what is happening with their parties? The way politicians view the situation makes you believe they like combing their hair while the country burns. Although, on the calendar, only a few days have passed since the pyramid-scheme scandal broke, the intensity of the events that have filled them makes them resemble an entire era, which may perhaps enter Albania’s history under the name “The Era of the Collapse of the Pyramid Schemes.” To be fair, it must be acknowledged that the politicians’ public appearances, parties’ statements, round tables and press conferences, mutual accusations, etc., have been just as intense. Nevertheless, so far nobody is talking about what has put the people out on the streets: a way out of the crisis, a technical solution to the problem. The left-wing opposition is filling the squares with calls for early elections, while the name of Sigurimi and the Party of Labour is being used increasingly by the party in power. Everyone is trying to show what color the government should be, while the people are afraid they will forget about getting their money back. It would be more appropriate for the state, and not only citizens terrified about the future, to count and register the cars belonging to “Grunasi” and Sude’s houses, as well as the permitted family trips to Turkey by the co-president of “Gjallica,” while her properties are coveted by many clients anxiously awaiting February 6. The parties quarrel, insulting one another as politicians, while the latter spend their evenings calculating the money they have lost, remembering only then that they are citizens too. Yet apparently, for our leaders it is easier to forget that they are citizens as well than to keep remembering that they are politicians—but also citizens.

Waiting for February 5

Extraordinary meeting of the PR Steering Committee

Last night at 18:00, the extraordinary meeting of the Steering Committee of the Republican Party began, chaired by its chairman, Godo. At the center of the discussions was the situation in the country following the unprecedented shutdown of the foundations and investment firms. The members of the Steering Committee discussed with concern the serious events taking place in many districts of Albania, the anger of people left without homes and money, the culpability of the legislative and executive authorities, the government’s lack of transparency and information, etc. As the meeting continued until late in the evening, after the newspaper had been sent to the press, we will publish tomorrow the statement issued by the Steering Committee.
