Albania needs a new dawn
The “Alba” Mission has begun
. Troops from seven European countries are coming to Albania. The international community has responded as never before to help our country. Europe has shown through deeds, not words, that it considers Albania an undeniable part of itself, and it could hardly be otherwise. History has shown that, often over the centuries, Albanians have stood in the front line of Europe’s defence. As such, the West’s resolve to help Albania will surely be met with understanding and welcomed by the Albanian people. The land of eagles has known how to welcome its friends, even in the most difficult circumstances of its existence. Italian soldiers and those from other European countries will find in Albania a brave, noble and hardworking people, not a jungle populated by savage people. Albanians have nothing in common with the gangs of criminals who are terrorizing their people. They will know how to rid the country of the scum that these times have brought to the surface. Protecting the soldiers of the “Alba” Mission is a matter of honour and dignity for Albanians. If even one drop of their blood is shed, it will be a national disgrace for us.
In view of this, the Republican Party considers it necessary for Albanian troops to participate jointly in governing alongside the international mission. Albanians are the ones who must be the first to confront the gangs of criminals, preventing or minimizing the risks to the “Alba” troops.
The Albanian people are grateful to Italy, the EU, the OSCE and the UN Security Council, which answered its call for help. It also knows that Italy has played an irreplaceable role in raising the international community’s awareness of Albania. This is not the first time Italy has stood by our country in difficult moments. Operation “Pelican” and the “Alba” Mission are the finest examples that demonstrate the deep bonds of friendship between our two countries, which cannot be overshadowed by isolated events.
The humanitarian mission in Albania is called “Alba,” that is, “Dawn.” It is a fitting name for an initiative for us. Because Albania needs a new dawn. A true dawn, without hatred and violence, with love and peace. A dawn that truly rises from the West.
