Mr. Vranicki expressed himself yesterday as quite enthusiastic about the fruits of his most recent visit to Tirana. [The upper part of the headline is cut off] with a civic spirit Yesterday, Mr. Vranicki expressed himself visit to Tirana. Mr. Vranicki also largest parties shake hands. The symbolic reconciliation between Mr. Nano and Shehu in front of the photojournalists may contribute to positive developments in day-to-day politics. In fact, it is a major success that the two primitive leaders have set aside their grudges to express at least a shred of civility. In Albania, whatever happens, the catalysts remain precisely the parties represented by these misshapen leaders. Their meeting is not on a fantastical scale, but at least it serves to justify the army of “Kalashnikovs” that follows them around. The latest developments in Albania have made it clear that goodwill existed to a greater extent among the smaller parties. These parties, traditionally attacked by the larger shadows, have finally managed to show that they know how to do something more for this country. The polarization of these few years of pluralism came first and foremost from the political actions of the big wrecks. The election law, always unsuitable, has once again won the approval of the two classic adversaries. This law succeeded in undermining Albanian politics, which never had the chance to acquire the qualities of a genuine political democracy. Precisely because the small, minor forces were absent, even though they could have served as a kind of lubricant for Albania’s peasant democracy. Today Albanians have the opportunity to see a different Parliament, a different politics. The handshake between the great enemies may no longer matter to them. To date, the replacement of the so-called small parties has in fact helped no one. These parties have a chance to show a different scale of influence after the elections. Then it will be necessary to discuss who should shake hands. In any case, Mr. Nano and Shehu have not yet become friends.
