Berisha’s pyramid must repay its debt to the Right

. In recent days, when a foreign political figure was asked about the current problems in Albania, he replied that they were the result of fifty years of communist dictatorship. We do not quite understand whether the foreign gentleman was referring only to the time of E. Hoxha or also to the period after that, as far as the exercise of dictatorship is concerned, but in any case he blamed communism. This conclusion is nothing new to us Albanians, since we know very well who inherited power after R. Alia. R. Alia. The anti-communist propaganda, curiously promoted by former communists, confused a people accustomed to being fed slogans and made them mistake soap for cheese. To make this kind of deception as credible as possible, they borrowed from the Right everything from votes to particular figures known as anti-communists. The Right, unorganized as a result of its lack of experience and a genuine tradition of party organization, was put to work for and shamefully exploited by this kind of covert communism, camouflaged with an anti-communist façade. Today the Right must claim what it is owed—something that has in fact turned into theft by Berisha’s repentant communists, who, before organizing the economic pyramid schemes, organized the political pyramid by enticing right-wingers to invest in them, in the face of the wild beasts of politics, PD-PS. The Right must, of course, play the role of the human being. This is its due, by its origins, its position and its ideas, since it has been freed from those holes of Marxist-Leninist influence. To see this, one need only look at the state Albania is in today, where the Right cannot be accused of either revolution or counterrevolution. It does not wage a war of guns. No one can accuse it of seeking to keep or seize power with bullets, as PS and PD accuse one another. Today, the Right must understand that for Albanians, upholding the law, order, tolerance, patriotism—in other words, the dismantling of communism—is the demand of the time. To meet this essential need, the first struggle must be for a united and strong Right, giving up pettiness, arrogance, narrow interests and stubbornness, which unfortunately characterize certain sections of it.

8 parties discuss the Electoral Law

Yesterday afternoon, the group of parties contesting the electoral law proposed and approved by the Democratic Party met at the headquarters of the Republican Party. The meeting discussed the efforts being made to reach a solution acceptable to all sides on the Electoral Law, so that elections can be held under a law satisfactory to all parties. The contesting parties have declared that they will not take part in the elections under the law approved by Parliament. Nevertheless, remaining open to compromise, they are working to find a common position by cooperating with other institutions and also entering into talks with the parties that support the current law, through the round table of the 10 parties participating in the Government. The parties’ representatives express confidence that the problem can be resolved, but are determined to stand by their demands so that excesses can be avoided and the people can go to the polls peacefully.
