The United Right arrives in Shkodër Yesterday the United Right landed in Shkodër. The democratic people of Shkodër welcomed and honored its leaders, regardless of the years some of them carry on their shoulders, as Berisha’s servile newspapers have mockingly remarked. It seems that the electorate has decided to judge politicians not by their age, but by their wisdom, the morality they embody, the ideas and messages they convey, their platforms, and the trustworthiness of their character. The Shkodër Right—the cradle of democracy—said yes ... to the United Albanian Right. The Right’s message was applauded by the people of Shkodër. The true Albanian Right, not the one assembled with flattery and promises in Berisha’s courtyard (parties of the Laço + Bushati type), has reason to seek the votes of the right-wing electorate in the name of anti-communism and the rebuilding of Albania. This is the political formation of the Right, the most trustworthy one to be not only an opponent but also a victor among the communists of the DP-PS. The United Right went to Shkodër after Berisha’s noisy rally, where he begged the people of Shkodër to give the DP their vote once again and to leave Berisha as president for another term, regardless of what they had done to Albania. The people of Shkodër did not understand Berisha, because he did not speak Albanian, but tried to deceive them once again, as he has often done during six years of rule. He did not have the courage to admit that the DP had proved itself to be the party of pyramid schemes, the party that spread the epidemic—the cholera—of corruption at every level of government. Berisha did not tell Shkodër’s democrats that the state he built was a sandcastle that collapsed and nearly buried Albanians beneath it. Berisha had the courage to tell the people of Shkodër: Give me one more chance to try! Berisha’s party bears responsibility for zealously preparing the socialists’ arrival in power. But what should the right-wing electorate do? It has an alternative to escape the PS socialists and the DP’s neo-communists. Shkodër deserves credit for revealing the Right’s real strength on October 20, by placing a representative of the United Shkodër Right in the mayor’s seat. The Right has arrived! The door of Parliament must be opened to it. The right-wing electorate of Shkodër and of all Albania is aware that it must strengthen this trusted nationalist formation with its vote. The Right will not allow the elections to be blown up with gunpowder. It is telling the terrorists today, in unmistakably clear language: They will answer for the crimes, the terrorism, and everything wicked they are doing in this country. The Right’s platform will build a strong state, a state governed by the rule of law, which will integrate Albania honorably into Europe.
