Berisha leaves the parties 40 MPs and a fight on their doorstep. Godo: Albania is too small to be divided into cantons.

Let the parties declare a ceasefire!

the white wall

Political temperatures on the eve of these elections are competing with the scorching weather. The boiling point seems to be very close. The election campaign is burning hotter than the June sun. with the scorching weather. The boiling point seems to be very close. The election campaign is burning hotter than the June sun. Accusations and counteraccusations are thrown into the air like fireworks. Assassination attempts, ambushes, hostages, every kind of misfortune. Even when there are no armed incidents, even when there are no ambushes or bandits, the parties invent them and the newspapers amplify them, entering a crazy competition. The press of the two major parties has taken on the role of arsonist. Even when politicians forget to insult one another, militant newspapers do enough insulting for 100 politicians combined. Even when the explosives are stored in safe depots, journalists light the fuses remotely. A filthy and unrestrained hysteria at the same time. Sensational headlines: “PS Secretary General Attacked with Firearms,” writes “ZP”; “No One Fired at Mejdani’s Car,” replies “RD,” taking over the Ministry of the Interior’s responsibilities. A party report says that shots were fired into the air at the rally by Pollo and Hajdari in Ballsh. An independent newspaper brings its own version to light: “Bullets Fired at Pollo and Hajdari”... The electorate is disoriented by such absurd sensationalism. But how long will the mutual condemnation by the press and party leaders continue? In fact, the press conveys the press and party leaders? [damaged/unclear passage] In fact, the press conveys the poverty and explosiveness of politicians, who, instead of presenting their party platforms, hurl insults at their opponents. The newspapers of both major parties use the following terms extensively in their pages: thief, criminal, bullets, bombs, scoundrel, villain, fraudster... And what use are such insults to the electorate? The Albanian crisis will be resolved neither by insults nor by accusations. Perhaps tonight the Parties’ round table, initiated by PR, will convene to sign the social pact and resolve disagreements between the big and the small. If the white flag is raised at that table, perhaps tensions will ease. The time has come for the parties to calm their nerves and seriously consider how dearly the people have paid for politics’ inability to resolve the crisis.
