The Marshall Plan laughs and cries
-Albanians need a Marshall Plan, to reconcile them with one another.
-OSBE-we hope that in the future Albanians will not resort to "witch hunts" either
200 million dollars is the first aid given to Albania precisely by the neighboring country, Italy.
It seems this was such a large sum that it once again spread the idea of a Marshall Plan for Albania. There is no doubt that such a plan would not be surprising if implemented in the most troublesome country in the region and the continent. For this reason, the political changes in Albania were supported, which brought the former communist left to power. The drastic changes in Albanian political life pushed Berisha's party into opposition, and at this moment it is the most abandoned one, but also the biggest source of trouble.
Yesterday's failure of Berisha's round table showed once again that this politician is being very effectively used to keep political tension high. The former communists, with him at the head of the PD, find it easier to boycott, despite the fact that praise directed at them has recently been made in a very pleading tone.
The Socialists are no different from other Albanian politicians. They are aggressive on the domestic stage and humble outside it. In Albania, ever since they came to power they have missed no opportunity to show that they seek the size of a buffalo, even though they know how to let out only "gua?".
The total lack of will to sit at a common table and find a solution, even if only to pull an elderly MP out from under a bridge, is the greatest political ignorance. The rise in tension will naturally upset the foreign bigwigs, who have no interest in putting money into a country where politics knows only the cat-and-mouse game. The Socialists understand this only when they are outside this country and forget it as soon as they step onto Rinas. The Marshall Plan, mentioned pompously by the government, can be trampled underfoot by these political busybodies.
Albanians need that poor reconciliation. The people who receive their votes seem somewhat angry at this idea. Even the President of the Republic, Meidani, has presented this idea only when it suited the Buzmi party, which is hardly a party at all.
This so-called independent President must gather the angry politicians into the fold; then something might change. But it seems he is following in Berisha's footsteps, sitting down and getting up at party tables only to deceive international opinion into thinking he is not alone.
International organizations are listening in. Last night the OSBE Representative spoke clearly with us there in Tirana, and we note the political games and the serious obstacles they create for power. We hope that the "witch hunt" will not be applied! Be careful, politicians and those in power, do not play with the fate of the people!
Nano abandons his cellmate, the press
Nano continues to ignore the demands of the Albanian press to be freed from the clutches of taxes. He has taken the demands as pressure on his government, but even fools would not swallow that plum. Publishers have asked for nothing more than a conversation with the prime minister. Ultimatums have not begun; perhaps Nano's indifference could take things that far.
It is surprising that the former prisoner Nano has abandoned his cellmate from the cramped cell. Then he spoke differently from the newspaper; perhaps the press itself is to blame for creating the aura of a hero around him. In any case, it is not too late for the prime minister to sit down at a table with representatives of the fourth estate.
