The opposition, the former President’s crossword

Berisha has been in Calcutta both as a private person and as leader of the opposition. He said roughly as much himself yesterday, the head of the PD, at a press conference. As leader of the opposition, Berisha has proclaimed himself ever since he lost power. At the head of the PD he looks like a thinned-out rooster, but still on the second floor. As a man who has always wanted to be the center of attention, Berisha has summoned around himself a few politically small men, who stand guard at empty tables and convince him that he is the leader of the opposition. According to this former President, it is not right to allow the possibility that another force might call itself the opposition, because the leader is him. The United Right is thus exclusively destined to be excluded from the anti-communist opposition against the PS and its allies. This is because this card has been taken into hand by the former President of this country, who can quite easily be called the political failure of this country. Inflating himself before journalists, Berisha forgets that he is trying to get PR and Balli into his fold, but since that does not work, he pursues the politics of exclusion, as has always happened during these years with him. The spirit that Berisha is trying to serve up in politics is quite dangerous. While in power he could not tolerate rivals near him, but being the same in opposition, he may turn into a liability and a conscience for the opposition. This can only help the government, which will find it much easier to deal only with Berisha, discredited in politics. This opposition, the strong right of the Albanians, can be successfully undermined by Berisha’s politics, and this of course also suits the former communist left-wing government, which with Berisha in opposition sees itself as long-lived.
