The government, the guardian angel of creditors or the devil ...?

The cyclone that will bring down the usurers begins Administrators, transparency, companies and vice versa. The turning around of these words in many languages, starting from the high offices of the government cabinet down to the poorest Albanian families, has now begun to sound more than ever like an asphyxiating storm, for many troubled minds. More than even in the time when usury determined politics, the economy and people’s very livelihood. Facts offered not only by the press, but also by a good number of opposition politicians, make one believe that this problem has taken a terrifying turn. In fact, it is starting to be heard in other neighborhoods too; the citizens of this country, also known as creditors, have begun to believe that even in Euro-American chanceries nothing is being talked about except the 'Albanian pyramids'. In essence, the very discussion of usury cannot hide the conflict it carries. In other words, the tension has reached a severe level. It is certainly not the most violent form of it, the consequences of which Albanians continue to remember even today. Nevertheless, even if this is not about an acute re-eruption like that of the months of chaos, it has taken the form of an ember whose source is unknown, but it is clear that everyone is involved. Politics, as always, at least with the established logic of this country, tries to extract the maximum benefit from the heat of this ember. With the pitiful appearance of a 'mournful mother', the government limps along, at every moment appearing as the guardian angel of creditors, while quietly accusing the heads of districts and companies, and meanwhile the government flatters these creditors, even promising that it is ready to sacrifice itself bodily at their rallies in order to help them find the money lost in the mud that its own hands cooked up. It would truly be good if someone knew how to defend someone’s interests. Even if this meant the acceptable sacrifice of being forgotten, of hardship, and of the one who protects you today. But it would be even better to know that one is being defended and from whom. And best of all, to know who is in conflict. The ruling side says: 'the creditors with the companies', and the former ruling side: 'the creditors with the government'. The chaos becomes complete and the ember ready to turn into fire. Whatever the truth may be, what is certain is that the fire will burn the creditors. In fact, in the end, the last ones have no interest whatsoever in being in conflict with the companies. A possible collapse, or worse, the final sealing of bankruptcy, as Nano and Malaj suggest, apart from satisfying the political ego of these people, or even the release of the anger of part of the creditors, would not bring any great benefit to the rest of the majority. At most, a revengeful mind would be pleased to live to see the 'big bosses' in handcuffs, but the money would never again end up in the pockets from which it came. Continues on page 8
