Yesterday, at the epilogue of the 3rd Congress of the PRSH, something happened that perhaps was not expected. After an extremely successful report, applauded almost in every paragraph, after greetings with superlatives from both the government and the opposition, he suddenly resigned. This was the hottest point of the Congress. The veto that Godo placed on the irrevocable resignation made an impression, and even his supporters tried to use pressure, but he was not shaken from the decision he had made. Godo's resignation caused surprise, not because the new candidate Fatmir Mediu does not have the reputation of a career politician for the high post, but because Albanian politics in these 7 years of pluralism had turned gray by choosing chairmen. In fact, some of them even use bodyguards to intimidate votes. Thus, the forces brought forth by the severe newness of politics, which unfortunately are clashing with Albania's fate, but also the light weapons or political ambushes, reluctantly fell short of manifesting the institution of resignation. Mr. Godo thus became a teacher to be respected in politics. The reasons for the resignation are now public. They were not handled in back rooms, but openly. The overload of duties as co-chairman of the Constitution, as Chairman of the Parliamentary Foreign Policy Committee, and health problems, were not enough to convince the delegates to accept the resignation that Godo had insisted on. Nevertheless, the resignation is an accomplished act. The Republicans are convinced that in this difficult time of political crisis, in the routine and worn-out removal, Godo's mind is indispensable. The Republicans cannot play without him. He has been the most successful politician, especially since the beginning of the crisis, the overthrow of the state, the heating up of political matters, etc. He managed several times to bring political opponents to the same table. The PR Congress itself was a manifestation of civic spirit and political emancipation. The participation in it of the entire Albanian political spectrum, the greetings from the Left and the Right, confirmed the true fact that Godo is a special name in politics. The Republicans are convinced that Godo's engagement will remain constant in PR politics, and the sharpness with which he has resolved complicated situations will be needed by the PR for a long time to come. Yesterday as well, after Mediu was elected to the post of Chairman, he not only embraced him and shook his hand, but also said that he would be by his side again to help him.
