Albanians in search of the nation’s certificate

The Albanian state still lacks its real identity, in order to present itself before the new states, or before the other states of the world. In Albania there is no Constitution, the very thing that, rightly, the parliamentary representatives of the German Bundestag considered the “birth certificate” of a nation and that the people themselves should sign. Everything is spinning in chaos and emptiness. Relations between the powers are not respected, not only by state officials, but even by the representatives of the legislature themselves. The independence of judges has fallen victim to political and ideological pressure, human rights require a high price, since every day we face the denial and trampling of citizens as an instrument of enforcement. The past five years saw attempts to restructure society, the economy and politics, but the benefits of the new political-economic process were used one-sidedly because of the lack of constitutional laws. Economic growth brought an unequal distribution of national wealth, rising social tensions and crime, environmental destruction and the squandering of human values. People remained completely stripped before pseudo-justice and unprotected against anti-state tendencies. The overall strategy of fear, denial and destruction of state-individual relations resulted in the collapse of social organization, the economy and politics, inspired by the Democratic Party. People, with dignity extinguished, should build a new future, but representatives of all political forces do not think so. Certain segments of Albanian politics, strangely enough, are interested in the continuation of the constitutional drama, the absence of the state and of the prerogatives that nourish institutional development. At the Godo round table, initiated to address constitutional issues, yesterday the political forces of the Union for Democracy were absent. This means disregard for the interest of the electorate. Albanians are asking for the Constitution because they feel its absence tragically. The artificial Albania of the Democratic Party state was not a process of transformation, but a national wound, the destruction of national interests. Otherwise, the Albanian transition will be extremely long and tragic. Page 9
