Politics functions as a “black market”
The State is eroding the morals of honest people. The crime committed by the police officers in Fier, who carried out a “summary execution” of a citizen inside the hospital premises, is a symbol of abuse, which sows the spirit of the Mafia, seeking to create an imitation of a criminal society. Regardless of the circumstances or motives, yesterday’s incident feeds the State’s crime against its own citizens. Confidence in State institutions is being severely shaken. The police must exercise the authority set out in legal provisions, which must be the same for everyone. Apart from the law, no one has a mandate to punish. The “vigilantism” of the blue uniforms shows that the fight against crime is taking unpredictable turns. It is becoming extremely complicated. Politics, by functioning as a “black market,” is having the opposite effect. The rapid rise in banditry apparently also serves the interests of the political forces in power, which are reluctant to confront crime, in order to prepare, step by step, the situation for new elections. Five months of governing in a style marked by widespread corruption and smuggling are enough to fill one’s pockets. Sources at the Socialist Party headquarters say that, besides the Democratic Party, the Socialists too have an interest in elections, in order to escape the responsibilities of governing and the worsening economic situation. The politics of the two parties, PD and PS, although shaped by the complicated game of personal ambitions, is creating a monstrous unity that feeds crime. Continued on page 4
