It is time for cooperation
. The shared values that unite us could become an agenda for a culture of peace in Albania as well.
The Rambouillet Conference was a favorable moment for restoring the Democratic Party’s institutional will. But yesterday the Democratic leadership once again ruled out the possibility of an early resumption of parliamentary life. The new political isolationism is particularly worrying if we consider that Rambouillet has compelled the West to think globally. Kosovo would find it difficult to gain advanced status if Albania remained a hotbed of political conflicts and an anti-institutional arena. At the Rambouillet table, democratic identity cannot be ignored, just as ethnic identity is taken into consideration. Albania, although it is not part of the solution, is part of the problem. Albanians, just as they declare themselves ready to face any threat to national sovereignty, must also demonstrate that they are inclined to move toward freedom, democracy and peace. The Peace Conference in Rambouillet could not remain indifferent to such a dimension, even though the crisis to be resolved does not require direct involvement by the political forces within the Republic of Albania. Rambouillet is not Dayton
AFP/- The great powers, which hesitated for almost four years before intervening effectively in Bosnia, have learned from their hesitation as they try to resolve the crisis in Kosovo. Milosevic tore up the 1974 Constitution of the Autonomous Province of Kosovo, depriving Albanians of every right to self-government, education and national cultural activities.

The MPs’ wives protest
— Satirical column —
A new bill has passed the date of the majority MPs, who have decided to discriminate against themselves through articles that are leading Albania toward the highest peaks of “popular capitalism.” In this atmosphere of prosperity and luxury, discrimination against MPs is quite absurd; therefore, the Speaker of Parliament, Mr Gjinushi, has drafted a bill on their treatment, which is destined to be approved by the MPs themselves. The bill provides: 1. An MP should not be merely the people’s faithful servant, but also an owner in the administration of the Page 5
