Alimuçaj, letter from prison: They asked me for 30 million

The biblical exodus begins after the war By Agim BAÇI For some time now, Kosovo has continued to be not only under ethnic cleansing, but also in a campaign of misinterpretations. These misinterpretations, coming from both Western and Albanian politics, are, in a way, the small signals of the completion of Belgrade’s strategy regarding Kosovo and the Kosovars. The first and biggest misinterpretation, which began at the very start of the ethnic cleansing, is describing the Kosovars’ departure from their homes as the Biblical Exodus. This mistake has also been made by some who present themselves as historians, even though the Biblical Exodus is a journey toward the Promised Land. (The Biblical Exodus, according to the Bible and the Quran, refers to the Jews’ journey from Egypt toward Jerusalem, the land promised to them by God. The journey of the Jews, led by Moses (or Musa, peace be upon him), toward Jerusalem was prompted by the Egyptian Pharaoh’s threat to exterminate the Jews, whose numbers were growing extremely rapidly.) Thus, supporting this theory—that the departure of Albanians from Kosovo is a Biblical Exodus—amounts to supporting Serbian terror by suggesting that Albanians are naturally meant to be displaced and that their land is in Albania, Macedonia, or elsewhere, where they have stopped after leaving Kosovo. The time has come for us to proclaim with all our strength that, for the Kosovars, the Biblical Exodus begins with their return to Kosovo, since the Promised Land for them is Kosovo, not departure from it. If until now this misinterpretation has been made unintentionally, from here on, page 3
