The secrecy of international betrayal

Another disappointment?

By Faruk MYRTAJ “France was once the name of a country; let us take care that it does not become the name of a neurosis.” J. P. Sartre wrote this about his compatriots, to bring them to their senses regarding the Franco-Algerian conflict. Fehmi Agami Agani quoted the great French writer and philosopher in his book “Democracy, Nation, Self-Determination” to warn about what Serbia was becoming under Milošević’s nationalist-communist banner. Fehmi Agani, one of the “Albanians of Rambouillet,” is now dead following the second announcement of his death, which could not be disproved as the first one had been. Just as dark fates for individuals are endlessly gossiped about and foretold, deaths and disappearances of peoples have long been predicted in the Balkans, even laid out in the official works of academics. The Balkans have long been viewed by the world as a “powder keg,” as “a land where princes or kings are assassinated,” and where wars began whose reach and end even God cannot know. Only recently have the Balkans been accepted as “Southeastern Europe”; only now is a “Marshall Plan” for the region being considered. It has been seen as the estate of Europe’s princes, tsars and lords. Unable to join those who believe in “thëma borkhin Europe” [as printed], I cannot help but stand in solidarity with the many others who feel spiritually at one with the West, but who fear that, owing even only to the traditionally conservative policies of the chancelleries, there may be a shift or retreat, at the very last moment, from the original aims of intervention in the Balkans. Nano and Fino turn their backs on Koçi

Koçi’s dismissal from his post as Minister of Public Order also strips him of the support of his friends, at least in appearance. Former PS chairman Fatos Nano and former Prime Minister Bashkim Fino turn the steering wheel of their dinghy, which is no longer sailing in favorable waters for Koçi. “It would be best for the accusations a minister makes against a prime minister to...” P. 3
