By Dalip GRECA Milosh[e]viçi fails in emptying Kosovo. The massacres, burnings, barbaric killings and inhuman tortures did not break the people of Kosovo. Half of the Albanian nation faced a biblical trial, a trial that did not break the spirits of its hearths. Now the hour of return has come. The expelled Albanians will return to their own desolate and burned-out homes. They will return to the graves. The pain will be deep. Much has been lost in this insane war, but return is the only hope of surviving as a nation. In fact, the biblical journey now begins: a return not simply to the promised land, but to the inherited land. Nearly one million Albanians expelled by force of arms (800 thousand in neighboring countries) must return, also as a challenge to the Serbs, especially to Milosheviç. Not returning is a free investment for the Serbs, who will certainly not find it easy to wait at the doors of their homes for Albanians battered by violence. If the 1 million Albanians return under the care of the International Community, those 80 thousand Serbs remaining in Kosovo should run for their lives. In this dirty war they showed that they do not deserve to live alongside the native Albanians. The incurable, contagious disease of Serbian nationalism crossed the bounds of humanity; not even catastrophes select one another as monstrously as the Serbs and Albanians do. Unfortunately, some Albanians, spiritually exhausted by the tragedy, are not looking forward to returning to Kosovo, but are trying by every route and means to reach the West. The long queues at embassies and departures by speedboat even now, after Milosheviç’s defeat, are signs of impatience that could cost Kosovo dearly. Departures for the West, abandoning Kosovo at this difficult moment, must be considered desertion.
