PS opponents clash

Who has changed Berisha’s mind? Former Democratic president Sali Berisha yesterday closed the public debate on Azem Hajdari’s removal from the leadership of the Democratic Party by stating firmly that this will not happen. On the other hand, he sharply criticized other senior party figures, lashing out in harsh tones at Tritan Shehu. At the same time, he again brought onto the scene the figure of Fatos Nano as one of the most corrupt people in the Socialist Party. According to our sources, this challenge by the Democratic chairman has attracted the attention of international spokespeople and embassies. However, the new moves within the Democratic Party are still unknown. Political life in Tirana is divided. p. 6

Europe is turning its back on us

By Aleksander GJERJI Yesterday our editorial office received official information that around 7 billion dollars from the Stability Pact for the Balkans will ultimately be distributed among the countries of the region. The valuation cheats along the government routes have caused Albania to be completely cut off from the vast majority of aid. After this gloomy decline, the government is trying to argue that they have not been left without money at all. But no. Tirana has lost its position and its trust, and with them its last hopes as well. Europe’s grand visit has turned its back on us. p. 3
