Champagne and tears for the Meta Government

As if it were a resignation government, Meta gathered around himself a governmental team with many elements and young specialists that more than a state government reminded one of a fashion show. Without any doubt, it cannot fail to reach Albanians because in his first government, the line of grass was not crossed. Last year, as it was the government of the Assembly, the country did not admire it. But Albanians often make their own merciless direction; faced with the daily struggle to survive, they cannot help but turn their eyes to the government chair. Many people asked with what legitimacy Meta was entering the premiership? With what vision? Was he, as was said, a figure of compromise or a temporary administrator of the crisis? At the time of his appointment there was much talk about his young age and energy, but not about a political project. This led a part of public opinion to see him as a name emerging from the balance of clans rather than from the need for deep reform. For many, the expectation that Meta would bring a new spirit faded from the very first days. The new cabinet was presented as an alliance of interests and balances, where some of the well-known names of the transition were recycled, while the young specialists remained more decoration than a decision-making factor. There was talk of speed, modernization and European rhetoric, but on the ground the citizen saw no tangible change in order, in the economy, and in the security of daily life. The new prime minister promised to avoid unnecessary conflicts and to give priority to institutional stability. However, this conciliatory language was not enough to dispel doubts. The new government arrived at a difficult time, after a politically charged period, when society demanded not words but results. In this climate, every mistake seemed bigger and every delay heavier. The Meta government was confronted from the outset with the fundamental question: will it govern for the public or for the administration? Will it solve the country's problems or only manage balances within the majority? The answer to these questions could not come either from champagne celebrations or from the ceremonial tears of the transfer of power. It had to be proven in practice, in relation to the citizen, to the law and to state responsibility.
