Three trafficking routes uncovered

National wealth is stolen
The insurrectional corridor is made up of valuable assets, which we estimate at hundreds and thousands of dollars, and other precious items that have been stolen and put into trafficking. KMI had also addressed the acting president of that time, Mejdani, expressing their concern about the suspected activities of senior officials and government administrators involved in the exploration, collection and smuggling of archaeological objects. According to the report they received for scrutiny and examined, these data by the parliamentary commission on public order and secret services under the chairmanship of Sokol Olldashi appear questionable: neither concrete addresses of individuals, nor evidence proving and explaining and accompanying the field actions of the Executive's guarantees.
The very troubling assessments from KMI, which according to the report had been distributed among senior state officials, could have created serious consequences for the country's peace and economic stability with the possibility of capital flight and a decline in tourism. But although it was a threat coming from criminal elements infiltrated into the government administration and implying suspicions of illegal activities by senior state officials with serious consequences for public property and the nation's archaeology, the prime minister had not informed anyone and the protocol had not ensured that a copy of the report reached the leader of the parliamentary opposition, Professor Tritan Shehu. From the relevant signature in the ministry documents it appears that the prime minister had signed receipt of the monitoring report on 17 April and in that same month the chairwoman of the PD parliamentary group, Mrs. Jozefina Topalli, publicly questioned him in Parliament about the involvement of his officials in the looting of Albanian archaeological wealth.
As for the disclosure of the names of officials or of the people involved in the theft of the coin collection from the period of King Gent and the collections and museums, the official report addresses the criminal police, SHIK and the head of government. One year earlier, an organized group had taken into custody the surplus art of great value from the National Historical Museum and the Ministry of Culture, trafficking and transporting abroad items of extraordinary value. The trafficking corridor has operated in an organized manner, involving people from Bujq, Vlorë, Sarandë and Shkodër. According to the report, it is confirmed that the wave of thefts and the disappearance of precious items has taken alarming proportions. Such are some icons and medieval paintings that circulate from one place to another and are trafficked without documentation. Instead of taking measures to stop this criminal activity, the government administration has remained silent.
