Meta has done his duty as a patriot and prime minister
Prime Minister Ilir Meta, according to information coming from the press, raised the Çam issue with the Greek prime minister
and received a strong reaction from him. I welcome Mr. Meta’s initiative. The first duty of a prime minister is to be a patriot and defend the nation, and it seems to me this is the first time a prime minister has openly raised this issue with the Greek government. It is also known, under international conventions and agreements, the Charter of the United Nations, the Helsinki Charter, and other European charters signed by Greece as well, that private property is inviolable. The Çam people left their homes there and were driven from their properties. What is being asked is that these properties be recognized as a first step toward understanding. Continued on Page 3
