The year 1999 was a year of pain and coalition stagnation for Albania. During this year, the left-wing majority was also tested through majority shifts from one government to the next, without achieving new commitments to stabilizing the country's economy and politics. At the end of this year, doubts multiplied in the face of the Republic with the escalation of conflict in the state apparatus of government and governance within the coalition government, but also with the overall split, especially at the country's critical moment. The Cypriot-like crisis of governing alliances, and the exclusion of part of the opposition within the left, call into question governance itself as a basis for stability, as well as the escalation and competition of government with the need for a clearer relationship with the left electorate.
