A forgotten village that survives

You can survive even when life seems like hell. You can survive even when life becomes unbearable. Love of life can overcome every doubt and difficulty in facing it. And this whole philosophy of life is summed up in that village clinging like ivy to the feet of Mount Shpirag. It has a rather rare name: Allambrez. It also has unusual people, in love with life and work. The whole village, like a gigantic centipede, hangs from steep slopes. Around it, sometimes rushing and sometimes murmuring, streams cut through the village like the edge of a sharp knife. Meanwhile, the ridges of the rugged hills look as if they had been bitten by a prehistoric beast, who knows where it may have hidden in the twilight of the centuries, when this village with its rare name and unusual people was founded. A second job, the “key” to survival in Albania

“A second job is the ‘solution’ for surviving in Albania. It seems difficult, often even impossible. An additional job remains a privilege, enjoyed by a very modest percentage of employed Albanians.
