EDITORIAL Who are our allies

The Republican Party has only one path: to strengthen itself and compete as an independent political force in the local elections, as a clear, firm opposition that can reach agreement with the socialists, the government, and the president. We want to demonstrate clearly, through our real presence, our ideas for a different Albania, an Albania that belongs to those who vote for it, an Albania where the family, morality, national values, property, and private initiative will be the cornerstones of our hope.
The idea that if we remained alone we would not be able to survive in political life has tempted us, and that is why we have ended up in worthless collaborations.
We must seek our allies among the voters; they represent change founded on a different social responsibility and a different reality, which will bring us to separate ourselves from and fight crime; which begins to build the nation within the family, in accordance with our message: “The homeland begins in your home.” Our most natural allies are all those who want private property, inherited or earned through the sweat of their brow, and not through political machinations; our allies are those who join our call: “Death to criminals and life for citizens.” Our allies are those who want private business to be the driving force of economic development, who acknowledge the law and the power of the state, but in return want support to develop their businesses and, consequently, the country’s economy. Our allies are those young people who see their future in our common struggle against drugs and prostitution; they see it in employment and in building a good future for themselves in Albania. Our allies are all those intellectuals who want to replace mediocrity and incompetence in government with the human and intellectual values of people who want to build a government for citizens and not for political clans. Our allies are those who do not treat the nation as a friend or use it as a political card, but serve it in order to be respected and dignified members of the Euro-Atlantic family.
For all of them to become our partners, we must first be allies to ourselves, make our ideas a reality—and we can do so—and become a concern for ordinary people, uphold these values, and engage them in realizing and creating a good society to which we must belong.
