If you were to ask Albanians what the most important event was for them in mid-July 2000, without hesitation they would say the one they perhaps worried about most: how much money they would make from the privatization of Albanian Mobile. Yet, while the government had also dreamed of the large profits it would secure, it seems that many Albanians had to dream up ways to grab as quickly as possible that money the government thought it would earn. Meanwhile, “surprisingly,” Albanians were not the only ones waiting impatiently for the profit from privatization. It seems that politicians beyond the sea also had the anxiety of profit from touching this money. In fact, there is another surprise. Because, once again, everything continues to be the same path-finder, and still with the same bottleneck, as we are hearing these days. After numerous accusations that the ministry’s representatives on the Offer Evaluation Commission acted unlawfully, the government has acknowledged that the privatization process was full of violations.
