EDITORIAL By Neritan ALIBALI A noisy “ping-pong” of retorts has followed the publication of a secret document about the infiltration of Greek espionage into the highest levels of the Albanian Government. The greatest “surprise” of all this “surprise” is the surprise reflected by representatives of the state’s leadership structures regarding this problem. Whether sensational or not, the news brings nothing new. Everyone knows that Albania resembles a large inn with no gates, where foreign secret services, and not only those..., come and go as they please. Everyone also knows that our counterintelligence services are completely incapable of confronting them. In this respect, the logic of contradicting and denying the truth holds no water. Moreover, fortunately, Albanians are wise enough to understand that their homeland is protected by God himself. Despite the government’s inflated displays of patriotism, the failure to protect Albania’s sovereignty is total. And that is not all. The Albanian state has failed at everything: in protecting the Republic’s borders; in protecting citizens’ rights; in protecting emigrants’ dignity; in protecting children’s lives; in protecting the health of people with disabilities... The state has failed, turning the country into a rusty apple of illegal trafficking! The state has shirked its duty, turning the country into a paradise for criminals, abusers and perverts. The state stands accused because it has turned the country into a hell for its citizens. So what can you expect from the state?! To protect you from spies, mafiosi, criminals, the insatiable?! It is pointless! That is why Albanians try to protect themselves. Meanwhile, the state resembles a loose woman waiting for her next client in a filthy, dilapidated brothel.

Shocking figures revealed in rent payments “Just in the last two years, 4 million dollars have been paid to house the families of our country’s diplomatic staff, and nobody has bothered to propose another solution. In my opinion, this is a major loss, which keeps growing, when the money spent so far could very well have bought entire buildings.” This is what one of the senior financial officials in the state structures responsible for the State Budget said about the enormous expenses Albania has incurred by paying rent for the residences where our embassies abroad are housed.
