EDITORIAL By Andrea Nako The state - the anti-state Once again, we find ourselves in a climate of tension, perpetual victims of the “anti-state.” This time, too, those who have put us in such a position are precisely the representatives of the “state.” Within the last 72 hours, as if the usual political acrimony, transformed into street protests, were not enough, an “assassination attempt” has reared its head. We are compelled to put it in quotation marks, because the incident has not yet reached the point where specific individuals, named in the accusations, have been placed in the dock. The anti-state has been set in motion. This time, too, everyone rushed to take sides with either the “murderer” or the “victim,” and no one accepts the role of arbiter. No one can bear to hear the words of those whom we pay to untangle these inevitable knots in a tense situation. The state operates like a parallel state which, strangely, knows everything before it happens, takes absolutely no account of its own investigative bodies, follows no normal procedures, and ultimately acts with an exasperating lack of seriousness. The outcome? The wrongdoers will never be caught, but that is no longer the worst part. Statements of the “anti-state” kind create delicate situations and severe tensions, which can degenerate into civil conflicts, like those that have continually threatened Albania in recent years. And the only one to blame for this will be the “state,” voluntarily transformed into the “anti-state.” tension, transmuted into street protests, were not enough, an “assassination attempt” rears its head.
