EDITORIAL By Agim BAÇI The prime minister of darkness, Ilir Meta, once again reiterated his great desire not to engage in dialogue with the opposition. Indeed, this time he revealed to us that he had also been against the dialogue he held two years ago alongside former Prime Minister Majko, as his deputy, because a few chameleons had passed close by them... (Apparently Meta forgets that these latter are the only ones untouched by the “industry” flourishing under his government.) Meta’s clear lack of desire for dialogue was further confirmed by the Minister without Portfolio in his government, Legisi, when he declared that the current government had settled accounts with Berisha, had nothing more to do with him, and had no intention of talking to a man with whom it had gone its separate ways! Everything in this opposition to dialogue seems to be happening according to the logic of a private company, where the two executives, Meta and Berisha, cannot agree on their ideas about making a profit. In other words, they can no longer cooperate because their paths have diverged, because one benefits at the other’s expense... All this reasoning seems ridiculous coming from a prime minister known only for the boundless darkness into which he has plunged the whole country, and after the blow Europe dealt us last night in Zagreb. Indeed, this farcical situation becomes even more absurd when the word “never” comes from the mouth of a 30-year-old who began his political life precisely with the words pluralism of thought and position. Meta demands conditions for dialogue when he has yet to meet most of the minimum demands of Albanian citizens. Meta demands conditions for dialogue when Europe, which Albanians wish to join, calls for dialogue without conditions... Prime Minister Meta, this young old man of Albanian politics, has been signing his own political departure for some time. But, unfortunately for Albanians, it seems he is seeking it at a high cost to them.
