Frashëri dismisses three of Brozi's assistants
President of the Court of Cassation: "As long as I am here, none of them will be removed"
TIRANA - The tension between the President of the Court of Cassation and the Ministry of Justice appears to have turned into an open "war" between the two institutions.
Yesterday an order from Minister Frashëri announced the immediate dismissal from work of three employees of the Court of Cassation accused of being collaborators of the former State Security. The Ministry's sudden decision met with a harsh reaction from Brozi: "No one can give orders to the President of the Court of Cassation, and as long as I hold this office, none of the three employees of mine dismissed by Frashëri's order will move from their jobs."

In the PS, a denunciation against Meksi and Frashëri is almost ready
Socialists: "They falsified documents"
TIRANA - Meksi and Frashëri seem to be protagonists in a denunciation, but unlike the "Brozi case".
TIRANA - Meksi and Frashëri seem to be protagonists in a denunciation, but unlike the "Brozi case", this time they appear to be suspected by accusers of abuses and falsifications. This will happen if the socialists decide to file a denunciation in the office of the Prosecutor General. It will also happen in the case of the presentation and subsequent approval of the amendment to the Penal Code, which postpones the trial of their imprisoned leader Fatos Nano. It has still not been definitively decided whether the socialists will take this step, but the denunciation document for the Prosecutor General is being prepared by the PS lawyers.

Imami on Zef: "He did not slander"
The PAD leader defends his colleague
TIRANA - "Gjergj Zefi did not slander, and his accusation about the ties with his political position".
Imami on Zef:
"He did not slander"
TIRANA - "Gjergj Zefi did not slander, and his accusation made public about his political position". Arben Imami of the PAD opposes the police's detention of his colleague. Only two days earlier, the Chairman of the PAD Assembly had been formally taken in by the authorities at the Shkodër police station.
"This is repeated behavior on the part of the police," said Imami, commenting on this as an "extreme stance toward Zefi's activity as a journalist". Everyone knows - Imami stated - that there is no reason for slander in this matter.

TODAY'S MATCH OF THE YEAR
Government project — The fine slip on the car windshield
Stoichkov yesterday at "Qemal Stafa"
TIRANA - Today Albania plays its match of the year. At 4:30 p.m. the "Qemal Stafa" Stadium will host the Bulgarian national team for the seventh time. But this time with champions such as Stoichkov, Kostadinov, Leçkov, Sirakov..., who only a few months ago had conquered fourth place at "USA '94".
Some 50,000 people seated and standing have occupied the streets of the Albanian capital since last night, in order to block today - as rarely happens - half of the central stand of the National Stadium "Qemal Stafa", whose new sections are ready to hold about 12,000 red-and-black fans seated. "Vendiparene Grup Kalonnga Shqipëria", coach Penev declared last night to his journalists and the Albanian ones, he who has managed to hide everything, of course, except a victory in Tirana. Bulgaria thus seeks to challenge Germany - all its stars have gathered for today's match - while Albania - Bulgaria. Coach Bajko is passively available with 13 players who compete in various European championships, even from Germany, Scotland and Portugal, where some Bulgarian protagonists also play. However, Albanian football authorities have promised only 2,000 dollars for a draw, while the amount for victory has been left open. Bajko and his boys today have the chance not only to play the match of the year, but also to grant the miracle of the year. Thousands of Albanian fans today expect to burst out with the chants "Albania-Albania", and why not also "GOAL".

The fine slip on the car windshield
TIRANA - No more fines in the hands of traffic police officers. From now on, all of them will be paid at a special office. The method of paying circulation taxes, practiced in all countries of the world, has also arrived in Albania. A draft decree approved at the Council of Ministers meeting and which will soon be sent to President Berisha for signature gives road inspectors only punitive powers. So, for drivers who do not respect traffic rules, the auto inspector directs them to fill out the fine slip.

"This is how we burned Enver's slogan on Shpirag..."
A soldier speaks with hands mutilated by napalm
TIRANA - A grim image of Enver and a 23-year-old boy, soldier Kujtim B[ik]oku, witness to a history exploded with napalm.
TIRANA - A grim image of Enver and a 23-year-old boy, soldier Kujtim Biçoku, witness to a history blown apart by napalm, which had spread massively on the slopes of Shpirag. But it is not simply the story of an ordinary recruits' incident; in Albania it contains a duality with few changes, and also affects others who had arrived.
Do you remember how it happened? Everything started on 16 August. We were urgently taken from the Përrenjt unit and sent to Shpirag. The work we had to do was colossal. The surface that had to be cleared was 9 dynym, partly covered with bushes and weeds. Not far away, a cabin had been set up in the middle of the forest. The order was: to cut down this forest quickly. But how? With napalm. They brought it from the command, for use with explosives on the front, but all the others were specialized. This job was decided after an order given by an officer. The reeds in the forest were set alight, but the flames turned back. We had handed over part of it, but then other recruits, covered in smoke, began to run. Some of them began to fall. Afterwards the soldiers could no longer get away from the place.
Do you feel this substance? As a name, yes, but not to use it lightly. However, I began to show them with chemical gloves, then no one continued with ordinary problems. On 17 August our hands looked like burned flesh. I was there again. I stood in front of me, but in fact I only wanted to show some photos. On 9 August the first two soldiers were made. The result was horror. No one else understood them. A small amount of the flammable liquid was enough. It took only a few minutes and everything would catch fire. Just in the thin water and the napalm. But when the hands were caught, the substance spread quickly. Among other things, it affected the torso upward.
But military regulations do not allow action without "L-1" fireproof suits. The officers always told us that a soldier is a human being, and must not be burned even when he is right. An emergency from the military police came after 25 days of arrest. When they saw the first flames, the officers withdrew, but soldier 1 was running among the others, without washing after 1 day. He rolled? on the ground and one of the hands with trousers to extinguish it, but the flames embraced only the clothes on the body. When officers using the extinguishing method released other flammable layers into the forest, my hands... The terrible sun was the universe? of the beds of my wounds, which he said was true.
The doctors' care was at the level required by the wounds, wasn't it?
In Berat they told me it was a statement from the Ministry. Defence and the helicopter had to arrive within an hour, but I never learned that they were saying that, so that later they would not intervene because the ministry had started earlier.

The friendship bottle travels from Britain to Ksamil
The rare and centuries-old tradition is repeated
SARANDA - Pirates have disappeared, but they left traditions behind. And those were not extinguished in remote times or at the end of the 20th century.
SARANDA - Pirates have disappeared, but they left traditions behind. And they were not forgotten in remote times or at the end of the 20th century. This time, a boy from Ksamil has become the protagonist of a rare event. The waters of the Ionian Sea brought in a well-corked bottle, stopped by the waves. And inside, in a little tuft of fluff, a surprise was hidden. Written in English, it conveyed the old and beautiful message of friendship.
The friendship bottle thus carried a message from Britain to Ksamil. An ancient but rare way for a teenage English girl to make friends. In a gray glass bottle, the 14-year-old had enclosed a letter written in English, in which a friendship note had been formulated. From distant shores, the found bottle had traveled and arrived in Ksamil. The boy who found it, when he opened it, thought it was an S.O.S. call for help and ran to the police. No one noticed. Although nothing is said about the origin of the bottle being thrown into the sea, the idea that it could have traveled from English waters to the Ionian is difficult, or perhaps daring. However, that is not what matters most. A letter has been sent to the address of the young friend, which from afar brings a reply, not photographs, gifts and a special invitation: "Come and get to know each other in England".
