The opposition defends Brozi. Parliament resumes today TIRANA - Political parties are rallying around Brozi. “More like a suicide”

THE MYSTERY OF MEHMET SHEHU / His son speaks about the Protocol Bashkim Shehu: “Now we understand better” TIRANA - “I have read the entire series of documents published so far.” THE MYSTERY OF MEHMET SHEHU / His son speaks about the Protocol “More like a suicide” Bashkim Shehu: “Now we understand better” TIRANA - “I have read the entire series of documents published so far. What conviction have I formed from them? Perhaps I do not rule out the version that he was killed, but after reading these documents the ‘suicide’ version seems more likely.” So speaks Bashkim Shehu, the son of former prime minister Mehmet Shehu. For several days now, “the Shehu case” has returned to the foreground. The secret protocol of the Politburo meeting in the first days of February 1981 has shed new light on the much-discussed mystery of Shehu’s end. The impression these documents have left on Bashkim, the comparison with what he already knew from his communication with his mother, the possible search for the truth about one of the great mysteries left behind by the dictatorship, his plans for the future — these are the topics of the conversation with Bashkim Shehu. “He positively assessed Marx’s enemies in the PS”

Yesterday, a strong appeal from President Berisha to the socialists President Berisha The Marx issue is once again appearing at the doors of Albanian politics. “Marx’s presence in the PS program is a black omen for the future of Albania.” This time, a strong appeal has come from the presidential palace for Marx to be removed from the program of the PS and of any other party. President Berisha encourages a positive assessment of the philosopher’s opponents in the PS. The news was confirmed by President Berisha’s own spokesperson through a press release. “He (Berisha) would welcome Marx’s removal from the PS program, which would free them from a great sin,” said yesterday’s statement. The head of state himself calls on all PS members to show civic courage on this issue. “The President does not interfere in party programs and does not exert pressure,” the spokesperson declared yesterday, ruling out responsibility for the conversation-dim actions between President Berisha and some leaders-opponents of Marx in the PS. Rugova’s bodyguard detained by the Serbs

Rugova PRISTINA - Ibrahim Rugova has been without a bodyguard for 24 hours now. It was a phone call to the police and a subsequent notice that revealed yesterday’s ordeal of Adnan Mirovci, the forty-year-old technical secretary of the President of the Republic of Kosovo, but the ubiquitous and mocking shadow has followed him during his visits and numerous pilgrimages along the roads of Europe and the world. Rugova is thus faced with other troubles, while the arrest of one of his staff represents a step closer to his person and his personality. The Serbian operation has thus extended over the forty-year-old, whose characteristic portrait, with his black moustache, is easily remembered, at least by those who follow Albanian Television news. So far there has been no news about the reason for Mirovci’s detention, and he is still in the cells of the local Serbian police in Kosovo’s capital, Pristina.

A child gets lost on the way from Lura to Tirana

Parents’ appeal for help TIRANA - He set out to return to his family in Tirana, but has still not arrived. What makes the situation most distressing for the parents is that a week has passed since he left Lura for the capital on the scheduled bus. But it was precisely during this journey that he disappeared from the sight of his fellow travelers heading to Tirana. The only thought left is that the child may have been left somewhere along the roads of the small northern capital. The referenced boy Gëzimi Hoxha, the 10-year-old from Bregu i Lumit, in Kamëz near Tirana, on television screens, have anxiously used the words “has disappeared” to draw everyone’s attention. Gëzimi had been returning to Tirana on the regular bus line, from distant Lura. He had set off three days earlier for the place of the “100 kilometers”. In the village halls to take his sick grandmother with him, but at one of the stops, he got lost. After that, no one remembers having seen the young face of 10-year-old Gëzimi on the seats of the bus line that was taking them to Tirana. And now there are tears and alarm. Please help us find Gëzimi, our lost son...

Appointments and dismissals: as of yesterday they pass into the hands of the Prime Minister

The Government’s decision on directors and structural changes TIRANA - The appointment and dismissal of directors and changes in the structures of ministries and enterprises are no longer the competence of the ministers but directly of the Council of Ministers. It was by decision of the Council of Ministers that these exclusive rights were concentrated in the hands of the number one of the Government. Thus, for the persons who will or will not be at the head of the main sectors of the central departments, the official document will bear the signature of the Prime Minister, Aleksandër Meksi. Thus yesterday the official media made known to public opinion an important decision, by means of which the organization of only the highest levels is defined. Big changes: now ministers and directors of central and local institutions can no longer punish the heads of their enterprises, or sign structural changes in them. Yesterday’s decision of the Council of Ministers has taken these rights away from the ministers, attributing them to the prime minister. Thus, through the proposal, which again comes from the minister, the prime minister takes the final decision, both for personnel and for their replacements, as well as for structural changes in the central departments. The concentration of these powers in the hands of the head of government is a move toward centralizing the management of the state apparatus, which has been taken apart and scattered in the hands of government institutions and local institutions. Even in the last days of August and the first of September, as discussion was expected, it was found that an approach with the political structures was inappropriate. Therefore, even in sabotaged cases, it seems they have found their revocation in this latest decision of yesterday, which bears Meksi’s signature and the seal of the Council of Ministers.
