Brozi sued for the second time...

TIRANA - For the first time, the Albanian chief judge will not judge, but be judged. The Constitutional Court has set Thursday as the day of the hearing in which it will examine the Council of Ministers’ request to declare the activity of the president of the Court of Cassation “unlawful”. But if de Brozi is, to use the sharp phrase against a repeated denial, not going to appear before the Constitutional Court, the name of the leader of the Cassation once again ends up before the Constitutional Court. Sued again by the Council of Ministers, even though this time the reference concerns the Nano case, specifically the ownership of the Plenum of the Court of Cassation, scheduled for 20 September ’95. Privatization vouchers become securities

Registration of individuals and firms will continue until 25 October Privatization vouchers become securities Shares ready for 20 enterprises TIRANA - Privatization vouchers are beginning to acquire their true value by turning into securities. Since yesterday, around 20 commercial enterprises have been made available to the holders of these vouchers, in the form of privatization value, whose distribution is at an advanced stage, having signed the rules for the sale from the state to individuals and private companies. Economic reform in Albania is thus at an important stage. The implementation of the distribution of privatization vouchers and state national assets, the start of the production of the purchase of shares in enterprises through privatization, puts into practice what until now had only accompanied the theory of regulation. The process of distributing them could slowly provide the basis for opening a stock exchange in Albania. The benefit of securities and shares. The important announcement was distributed yesterday by the National Privatization Agency through RTV broadcasts. On page 5

Shkodër, strike over the cash registers... the outskirts

Yesterday, the announced move by the Federation of Traders. Yesterday, the announced move by the Federation of Traders Shkodër, strike over the cash registers... the outskirts In the center, profit “beats” protest SHKODER - Yesterday a one-day strike announced by the Shkodër traders and businessmen was held in the city of Shkodër. At the center of the protest was the demand that at the beginning of September the system of cash registers be removed, while those located where turnover is high preferred to “take the risk” without making a profit. More than 180 premises were locked yesterday, without notice from the Federation of Trade. It should be made clear that the response was particularly quick in protest against the high price of the cash registers. However, only 180 trade and craft premises responded to the union’s call. The restaurants and clubs in the center did not join the strike. The traders who responded were mainly from the outskirts of the city. The transport union had also announced a strike, and likewise two days before the start of the taxes. But yesterday, in most cases, the reason for the event in most of the city’s movement did not seem clear. The union leaders did not hold the day required to clearly establish who those are who have gone on strike. Ylli Pata

Gjirokastër: yesterday the shops were closed for 1 hour

Protest against crime Gjirokastër: yesterday the shops were closed for 1 hour GJIROKASTËR - The stone city in solidarity against crime. Yesterday the people of Gjirokastër expressed their protest against the many displays of crime in this city by closing their shops en masse. Sixty shops on the streets of Gjirokastër lowered their heavy shutters and locked their entrances, in a move meant to shake public opinion by insisting “by closing the shops, we are also closing off this misery”. The organizing council of the protest in Gjirokastër, representing various organizations in the city, issued its own statements in which it declared its disagreement with the spread of the PD, for which such a signature is being seen by the Community as incomprehensible. Following the relevant statement by the Albanian opposition and the organization of the movement “Crime in the local region is increasing the burden on society,” which earlier had been summarized by committee chairman Nazif Majushi and was said to have been taken to the city’s Municipal Council, with many people close to the Commissioner and also some disrespect toward the law-enforcement authorities and the police. They express dissatisfaction at the lack of investigation into the circumstances of the murders. The local opposition chairman stated clearly that “the way it was organized, that (the killing), which begins with weapons, has been explained to the PS chairman,” while for the local leader of PBDNJ, “in this natural aid, life in another existence will not happen.” As material evidence, the local suspects also presented motives on the ground, all the way to the ministers for the cases that had occurred and that this was to be seen first. A volunteer call inviting observation, taking part in the property owner’s h. case, closing shops from 10:00–11:00.” And published afterward, in support of it, yesterday it found support among traders and businessmen, who closed their shops for 60 consecutive minutes.
