Former PPSH officials under scrutiny
Here is who will be affected by the genocide law
It will be enforced until 2002. The Prosecution will investigate each person's activities
Former ministers, former senior officials and Security police employees, today’s politicians who yesterday took part in the highest party and state forums of the PPSH, and even collaborators of the State Security, all of them will leave politics by 2002. At least that is the content of the Draft Law on genocide, copies of which were distributed yesterday to the deputies of the PD parliamentary group

"The abortion law is too liberal"
Fierce debate in Parliament
TIRANE - The draft on the termination of pregnancy is too liberal, so the majority of deputies thought in the parliamentary plenary session. The voting mechanism was triggered, which decided that the draft law be sent back once again to the Government. The final vote was 31 against 11 in favor. 19 abstained and 14 deputies did not take part in the vote. Since the early 1990s, abortion has been allowed in state institutions, within the established rules. In 1994 alone, the number of abortions was 31,000. These are among the reasons why it should be legalized

Smuggling bus stopped
A surprise operation by the Pogradec police
POGRADEC - The weekend came with documents and goods for smugglers. It was a lightning operation by the police, the customs police, the Mobile Squad from the units of the National Intelligence Service, which blocked a bus with Turkish plates and detained its owner, who had brought into the network the vehicle, along with large quantities of smuggled goods, from cigarettes to whisky. There is goods worth over 26,000 dollars, which do not meet regular requirements, adding to the other amount of contraband that has so far fallen into the hands of the competent control authorities. Meanwhile, strict fines and seizure measures have been taken against the owner, who is not the only "victim" of the controls by the Customs Police and law-enforcement bodies in the district of Pogradec. The end of the week brings to the surface, in large numbers, the smugglers of the Macedonia-Albania "route".

Stabbed in the market
LEZHE - He was stabbed in the middle of the market and now, in a coma, is fighting for his life. The tragic घटना took place yesterday in the city of Lezhë, whose market became the witness of a bloody crime: a 40-year-old man fell victim to the knives plunged into his body, and is now writhing on the edge of a coma. Weak motives seem to have been the reason for Lekë Jak Ndoi, who fled in an unknown direction and is wanted by the police.

BERAT - The curtain has risen on the Berat National Festival. After a long break of seven years, the much-awaited event - one of the most important and longest-running of the year - once again takes on the grotesque dimensions of a folk celebration. Yesterday, at different times during the day, 36 local competing groups and another group from the United States of America arrived. While today, it is expected that artists from Montenegro, Kosovo and Macedonia will also take part in the unmatched gathering of Albanian folklorists. There has been no confirmation of travel to the city of Berat for the Albanians from Ukraine, Turkey, Switzerland and the Arvanites. An unusual parade took place at 3:30 p.m. on the first day.

Extreme measures for footballers and clubs
TIRANE - "Stop" to violence in Albanian football stadiums. With only 270 minutes gone in the '95/'96 season, the FSHF is forced to intervene with extreme measures to ensure "fair play". The game, humiliation, empty stadiums and very serious warnings were yesterday handed down to the teams of "Laçi" and "Teuta", as well as others who last Saturday had become the protagonists of the black хроник inside the green pitches.
As confirmed by the Disciplinary Commission, it has now been decided that for two consecutive weeks "Laçi" will not play its home matches at its city's sports ground, but on neutral ground. Meanwhile, "Shkumbini" will be punished by having to play in its own stadium, but without spectators. Harsh penalties are also planned for the footballers themselves. Tare of "Laçi" for eight matches, Buziu for five, while Vila and Cuko for four. The recent measures taken by the FSHF Disciplinary Commission have not spared even the coaches, "victim" of whom was mainly that of "Teuta", Bashkim Koka, who for 30 days must stay confined in the stands and not on the bench. The latest measures were also accompanied by a strong appeal that the FSHF addressed to all footballers and their clubs, reminding them that any breach of "fair play" will be punished much more severely.
The first to react after the unanimous decisions of the FSHF was precisely the coach of "Teuta", who told Gazeta Shqiptare that today they will appeal to the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. "The referees stole the game from us - the finances depend on the FSHF", and[?] there is no way it can respond to my appeal to boycott Laçi's inclusion

Rare, but true
LONDON - A sensational school story in Great Britain: a man around 32 years old managed to present himself as a teenager and, unknown to others, attended his former high school for the second time. None of the teachers from more than 15 years earlier recognized him.
After his "rebirth" in the school desks, Brian MacKinnon was a model student: in the graduation exams he got top marks, which allowed him to win a prestigious faculty at the University of Dundee in Scotland. Later he was discovered during a holiday in the Canary Islands, where Brian was involved in an argument and the police found him with two passports: one belonging to the young man and another showing the age of 17.
Only now has it become known why MacKinnon did this. He wanted to make his mother happy by getting into medical school. But unfortunately for him, in England the maximum age for admission to medicine is 26.
