Once there were the gypsies who abandoned the village...
Roma story
Once there were the gypsies who abandoned the village...
KRUJË - The gypsies have begun to give up their habit of endlessly wandering the roads of the world. This incredible story is true for the Roma of Fushë-Krujë, who, instead of free movement, have made the most important decision of their lives. Enough with the old tradition, enough with endless movements and wandering. The Roma of the late twentieth century have secured a better future for themselves and their families. A house, with walls and a roof, a piece of land or a job - mainly trade - this is the other life of 120 families, who abandoned the carts and settled permanently in one place.
A custom that no century changes is truly disappearing today. The Roma, the eternal nomads, are settling down and building permanent homes. There are 120 families in Fushë-Krujë who have now created their own neighborhood; some of them have even bought the land on which their houses stand. This is an ancient phenomenon present in the life of Albanian towns. For decades the former regime oppressed, persecuted, and settled them by force in some places born in agricultural farms, but also in city neighborhoods. However, success was limited. The Roma, driven by a free and wandering spirit, could not abandon their ancient tradition of living in tents and moving every day. But now it seems that change has come through trade and not through violence.
"Kështjellas". The money earned from trade and by doing what they can to make ends meet are the first pioneers in this regard - each of them has now decided to invest in building a house, and that expense may even be just a single room, but one in which there is no shortage of a refrigerator, television, or even a satellite dish.

Stop smuggling: 10 vehicles seized
A few months earlier, from smuggling across Lake Shkodra
TIRANË - New anti-smuggling figures. In addition to another auto-seizure for smugglers? "The implementation of the measures set by the Government to protect the embargo has been and will remain a priority of the work of the Ministry of the Interior and the Border Police forces." This was announced on Sunday by the spokesperson for the border police following the successful operation of the last two days, as the "success" and the alarm have brought down two fuel tanks, six cars, and even two motorboats carrying various goods that, according to official sources from the Ministry of the Interior, had intended to enter Albania. Thus, only a few days after the last "blitz" - in which the seizure of about 10 other smuggling vehicles had been announced - the Border Police forces, those of the Shkodër police station, as well as special units of the Ministry of the Interior, are reporting new anti-smuggling results.
