Anti-Genocide: lawsuit against the naval command of Vlorë '91: they opened fire on 94 civilians

The prosecutor’s office reopens the enigmatic case of the ship "Kanina" They fired anti-aircraft bullets at civilians who tried to cross the sea toward the shores of the Western world. But now their crime will be judged under the Genocide law. Although no other names are known yet, apart from the seven crew members of the four-silure torpedo boat, which four years ago had opened fire on the ship with around 94 civilians heading for Italy, the criminal case, suspended months ago for lack of witnesses, has been reopened by the Vlorë Prosecutor’s Office itself On page 3

Legalizing the communists?

Arbnori against PS members TIRANA - A Communist Party in Albania? The debate has been reopened these days and has immediately sparked controversy. More than as a concrete request, it began as a concept accepted by pluralism, and it now involves representatives of the opposition and the top Albanian state authorities. Members of the Socialist Party have justified its legalization as something normal and acceptable under the rules of democracy and the multiparty system, while yesterday the Speaker of the People's Assembly, Pjetër Arbnori, opposed it, referring to the reasons that had led to its outlawing: "It has called for overthrow and other actions that are contrary to the Constitution," he stated yesterday into the microphone of Radio BBC. He extorted money under a policeman’s uniform

The Korçë man’s "adventure" KORÇË - He carried out the duties of a police officer with "unparalleled devotion", but he was not a police officer. Now, for many of the residents of Korçë, he has been identified as such, although his behavior was far from that of a "respectable family man". He is said to be a citizen of Korçë, Fitim Kodra, who for a rather long period of time has been emptying merchants’ pockets with taxes that were never collected. He had once been a police officer, but apparently he could not detach himself from the job, since he would often present himself as a policeman in villages, where the villagers greeted him and naturally obeyed the "law." Meanwhile, in the city streets - dressed as a criminal investigator, but in civilian clothes - he often demanded taxes and the most absurd bribes, even receiving punishments for the insults of his "victims". For months he had also acted as a company chairman, to divide up stolen percentages. But his profitable adventure did not last very long. In any case, someone unknown made accusations from the other end of the police station telephone. And Fitim Kodra, the "chief of imaginary crime," was taken away by the police two days ago. This time, in fact, they escorted him to the market and confronted him with many of the merchants from the city market, from whom he had taken not goods but money. Kodra had been relieved of this duty two years earlier. But the ambition to steal and the conveniences offered by the uniform led him down the path of "the rogue" and the isolation cell. Elsa Koçiu

Now the newspaper "Aleanca" "loses" the party, but gains "independence"

PAD: Better without our tutelage TIRANA - One fewer party newspaper on the Albanian press market. It is "Aleanca", which will not change its name, but has chosen to present itself to readers as an independent newspaper. In the newspaper it seems that the party will "disappear" in order to gain what its issue has called "independence". The decision was taken only a few days ago, at a special meeting of the PAD Presidency. To achieve this, the participants in the meeting proposed the good and by a larger number of votes it was decided that the word "independent" should be printed and spelled out at the top of the page. Will the management team of "Aleanca" also change? Zogaj said yesterday that there is no question of changing the leadership, but explained that he would "renounce any kind of party tutelage over the newspaper". He also clarified that "Aleanca" will be legally and economically independent. According to the Director of this newspaper, in order to publicly announce its operation as independent, what remains is the completion and preparation of the legal documents. Under these conditions, "Aleanca" will soon have to sell, not as before but differently, 51 percent of the shares; these will be bought by the newspaper staff itself, while the rest will be sold to one or several owners, who, according to Zogaj himself, have already entered into negotiations.
