Judges under the examination sieve

After the lawyers, the black robes protest TIRANA - After the lawyers, a number of judges have also entered the examination sieve. While they complain that the reforms underway are causing waves of layoffs among specialists and making court life more difficult, inspectors argue that this is a routine check by the Council of Justice. “I believe that anyone who cannot pass the qualification tests should leave the judiciary and go back to work in the economy,” said the chairman of the Council of Justice, Kastriot Islami, in an interview with “Gazeta Shqiptare”. According to him, after retraining and new qualification it is necessary that those who cannot meet the standards retire or be removed from their jobs. That was the scene that unfolded yesterday at the civil hospital, where prosecutors and investigators tried to question the former banker Artur Alisë. The doctors did not allow his transfer because of his health condition, and so the questioning session took place beside the hospital bed. Official sources said the investigation is linked to his previous activity in the banking sector and to several suspected transactions.
