BERAT - A [?] tragic death of an 8-year-old girl from Berat. Swallowed by the fury of the stream swollen by torrential rain, she lost her life after being battered among the rocks by the rush of water. Taking her to hospital could do nothing to help little Suela Goxhaj from Osmani, Berat. The incident happened on Monday while little Suela was grazing the livestock with her older sister, near their home, beside which a stream also ran. The worsening weather caused flooding, and they went out and called for the children to come back. Only a few moments passed before an unprecedented downpour burst forth. A fierce rain lasted just 10 minutes—it fell, covering the entire area. The stream swelled with water, and it swept away some livestock along with the children. The delay in their return home worried their parents, who immediately went out to see what had happened. The girls had disappeared. The father began searching and spotted one of the children struggling in the water. He jumped in and managed to pull her out, while there was no sign of Suela: a short time later she was found wedged among a pile of rocks, where she had been left by the force of the water. Still alive, the little girl was taken to hospital. The injuries she had sustained were extremely serious—to her head and body—and she was in a coma. Life is especially difficult for those who want to live in the city of Elbasan, following a directive issued in recent days by the Directorate of Labour, Social Assistance and Political Persecutees. The order prevents private-company owners from hiring workers from the countryside under these circumstances, and instead calls on them to give preference to city residents, especially those who were persecuted. 48 undocumented Albanians detained

LECCE - The “assault” by refugees from Albania toward the shores of Italy continues.
There are 48 Albanians and many others from Asia, caught on Tuesday evening by Italian coastal-guard forces. They were all discovered along the stretch of coast between Lecce and Otranto.
It was the police operation called “salento” that made it possible to discover the undocumented migrants who were attempting to land on the shores of Puglia.

TIRANA — An old ATSH bulletin, dating from October 1987, returns to its homeland after an eight-year odyssey. After its buyer in Zaire, named kilometricrist Kikà Mufilanga Nerry B.P. Lubumbashi, turned out to be nonexistent, the bureaucracy of the Zairean postal service swallowed … in English and sent it back to Albania. The news was reported by the Albanian Telegraphic Agency; besides being a rare example worthy of Guinness, there is another fact that gives this unusual event a literary quality similar to that of science-fiction books and films. The bulletin’s yellowed pages contain material that, in today’s changed Albania, conveys the weariness of seven years spent in “exile”: “Albanian Film Week in Zanzibar.” “The BGSH delegation returns from the Sahara.” “The Youth Delegation in Hanoi.” “Comrade Ramiz Alia’s congratulatory telegram to the president of Mauritania.” “Comrade Enver Hoxha’s work published in a foreign language.” As if in a science-fiction book, the astonished, yellowed pages have returned to Tirana once again. To a changed land. As if they were people, with the opening of the envelope, the bulletin pages would have died on the spot…
