Elections looming, lists are being drawn up
Population registration begins throughout the country
An instruction from Secretary Kosovrasti sets local authorities in motion
Elections for the new Parliament are getting closer and closer, with not only the political fever of the parties and the statements of party leaders, but now also the knocking on citizens’ doors to compile the lists of those who, in the coming elections, will decide the fate of Albania for the next four years. For some time now, in many cities across the country, certain typical figures of pre-election campaigns have begun to appear. Always tireless, they keep knocking relentlessly on citizens’ doors to compile the lists without knowing on what foundation the colossal edifice of the elections will later be built

"Farewell, religion of our ancestors"
KRUJE - It is not said in vain that the Albanian citizen has not had much trouble changing religion. We have often been witnesses to scenes of this kind, in which people whose parents had baptized them with the names Hasan or Sadetin would always call themselves "Muslim Albanian souls" in the eyes of the missionaries who had arrived from the "success" of the first ones, who had managed to transform a life example without understanding it. In Fushëkrujë about 100 years ago the same thing happened, but whole large families turned with "joy" from Muslims into Christians.
Still, it was not that easy for a group of Norwegian missionaries to achieve this success. It took a very long time, nearly a year, to convince 100 people to convert, and almost all of them consider themselves members of the Society of the Holy Egyptians of Peria - to change the religion their ancestors had inherited for centuries. It seems the conversion was based heavily on biblical legends, because they answered that in the religion of Jesus it was the same, that they had played together as Christians" and not following the example of Saint Paul.
One thing has nevertheless remained from the old history. Although now Christians, many of them have preferred to keep the names they have had until today. The reasons for this decision are also unknown; perhaps they thought that by changing their names they would find a more complicated life, and who would bother to turn his head when hearing "O Jozef" instead of "O Hasan"? ...

Europe was in mourning yesterday: "Adieu Mitterrand"
PARIS - Yesterday, François Mitterrand, the figure considered second only to the great De Gaulle, was laid to rest. The former French president, who served two terms, was buried in his birthplace in the southwest of France in a ceremony attended by relatives and friends. After a mass held in Saint Pierre church, the funeral procession paused for a few moments in front of the house where the former president was born on October 26, 1916. Along with his wife, the two sons and Mitterrand’s companion, with whom he had an extramarital daughter 20 years ago, attended the burial. The Fifth Republic, on the other hand, paid all final honors to the former president, who died of cancer last Monday at the age of 79, with an honor guard from the armed forces.

"Violence against Zefi is an attack on the opposition"
The PAD leader comments on the incident
"In Albania, the escalation of political attacks against the opposition continues". This was the harsh reaction yesterday in Tirana, thus condemning yesterday’s incident in Shkodër. Just a few days earlier, in Lezhe, it had fallen on the head of the Chairman of the PAD Assembly. The President of the Alliance and the Press Director, Prez Goga, organized a meeting with journalists regarding the bitter event involving their colleague.
