SP: “We will think about alliances”

Yesterday the Steering Committee approved the Congress platform SP: “We will think about alliances” A special resolution on Nano was approved TIRANA - The SP gives the “green light” to alliances. Yesterday, a meeting lasting several hours of this party’s General Steering Committee led Albanian socialists, too, to turn their political attention to seeking possible alliances, which nevertheless remain undefined for now. But although yesterday the members of the General Steering Committee gave a strong “yes” to alliances with their political “unknowns,” they still thought they should be very cautious, so as not to leave themselves without protection. “The SP will respond to the parties’ requests according to the circumstances that arise,” the socialists concluded at their party’s most important meeting. But from the opposition leaders’ point of view, other political issues also came up—issues they have been thinking about for a long time. Yesterday the SP also approved the list of 352 parliamentary candidates. All the names will go before the Figure Verification Commission before being presented to the electorate SP headquarters On page 3

On Saturday morning, at around 19:30, handcuffs were first put on Agron Qose—an employee of the city police station—on suspicion of planting the bomb in the rubbish bin in the middle of the city. Yesterday, meanwhile, the prosecutor’s office described his action as “damage to property through negligence.” Officer Qosja, who, according to what was said, had passed through the explosion area 20 minutes before the incident on 6 March, was seen lighting a fire in the bin, which would later turn into a very powerful bomb. Police officer accidentally shoots himself with his pistol while sleeping

FIER - An exceptionally strong sense of duty, greater even than the desire to live. A police officer from Fier wounds himself with his service pistol while sleeping. This extremely rare and almost unbelievable incident happened at around 4 a.m. on Monday. A police officer had gone to his home in the village and was asleep. Exhausted after a long day of work, the policeman, who was sleeping fitfully, could not escape his work even in his dreams. Suddenly anxiety choked him. He felt in danger, one of those dangers he must face for the sake of other people’s lives, but in his case his inseparable “friend,” his pistol, was also with him. In a state of complete unconsciousness, he reached for his loaded weapon and fired at the imaginary “enemy.” The gunshot—and, more than the shot, the terrible pain—snapped him out of the imaginary nightmare. He opened his eyes and saw himself in the familiar half-darkness of his room, surrounded by familiar objects, with an absurd wound in his body. The bullet had passed through him. The law-enforcement officer was rushed to Fier hospital. The surgeons who treated him heard one of the most unbelievable explanations: “I shot myself while having a dream.” Fortunately, the wound was not very serious, so the policeman, more worried about what might happen if his superiors found out than about himself, left the hospital and the doctors’ care and hurried back to where duty called him.
