The Second Socialist Congress begins its proceedings. Pëllumbi outlines the strategy
Nano greets the delegates from prison
Once again, the SP has appeared confident about its political break with the past, while simultaneously launching a sharp attack on “Berisha’s regime” and the DP government. At their Second Congress, the socialists have now seen themselves as opponents of dictatorship, once again speaking out against the communist leader Enver Hoxha, as well as against Berisha’s confusion, which, in their opinion, “is now a story that brings no political persecution.” At the same time, without setting aside the issues that concern them most politically, they have been convinced that their party’s economic alternative, too, will triumph in the judgment of Albanians at the elections, since “the strategy pursued by the SP is, and will remain, a strategy for economic logic to prevail.”

“Remove Marx to save your party”
Message from Berisha
TIRANA—
Remove Marx from the program so that you can recover. This is the gist of the message Sali Berisha sent from his office to the socialist congress. Exposing the Hoxhaist lie, removing secret-police elements from the SP leadership, and taking Marx out of the socialist program are the wounds that, according to Berisha, the SP must treat in order to make a full recovery.

Berisha “abandons” his personal guards
TIRANA—
President Berisha “abandons” his escort. After leaving the “Tirana” hotel yesterday, he got into his “Mercedes” and ordered the guards to walk. The change in the protocol for the president’s movements caught his personal guards, as well as the police escort accompanying him, unprepared. Berisha’s walk caused quite a stir, including when he arrived at the Palace of Brigades. It seemed to be not just one of his trips, but also his usual route. Many people were left guessing as they watched, wondering whether this move by the president was a bold act, though in fact it was not clarified. In his case, people speculated and speculated; taking long strides, he set off toward the court. Without greeting the first passers-by, he continued on his way. His escort and the police were alarmed; they had been taken by surprise by Berisha calmly walking past, and set off to accompany him, but it had already gone... Apparently, in the presidential “protocol,” a different approach had developed, and it seemed to have made no effort at all to... Me.Kj

SP’s coalition invitation: how the allies respond
They do not say “no.” But their “yes” is not entirely wholehearted
TIRANA—We will come, but not in a socialist-style coalition.
This is the response coming from the offices of Çeka, Gjinushi and Melo just a few hours before the SP congress. If two days ago the message from the socialist central headquarters was “we must be open to a coalition,” today it is the leaders of the PAD, PSD and PBDNJ who are giving their reasons. While Çeka considers the socialists’ decision to form a coalition “realistic,” Gjinushi, for his part, says that “another plan, more clearly explained, is the true basis of this agreement.” “The political foundation of such an agreement, according to the leader of the AD, will be the white front.”

An account by a manager in the sex business
DURRËS—“Dritatek” has arrived in Albania too. They are no longer found only in the red-light districts of the capitals and on the pavements of Rome, Milan and Athens. In fact, one of them—an illegal brothel—has at least four girls operating in the port city of Durrës. Its manager agreed to be interviewed by “Gazeta” and to reveal the secrets of the world’s oldest profession. Several girls come from Tirana, mostly aged 19–20, and agree to sell their bodies.

In the USA, a woman gives birth to six babies at once
Two girls and four boys, all the same age
NEW YORK — An unusual event has made the front pages of newspapers and the news broadcasts in the USA.
A woman has given birth to six babies at once, which may perhaps mean a place in the “Guinness” records.
People were amazed to learn that a couple from New York City had six babies, whom doctors said were in good health and developing well. The doctors took charge of the matter, and everyone feared that it might be necessary to perform a difficult Caesarean operation.
The children’s names are Kristian, Rian, Meri Elen, Xhoshua, Briana and Austin, while their father is called Norman and Majkëll Hangerna. The latter, together with the sextuplets, has been helped by many people, including the state Department of Research.
