Incident? GJIROKASTËR - The lack of a toilet at the Kakavijë customs post almost caused an incident between Tirana and Athens. An Albanian customs officer crossed the border yesterday unlawfully to take care of personal needs, but was caught by Greek guards and ended up in the prison of Ioannina, suspected of being the author of a terrorist act. Greek crime-scene experts arrived on site and, willingly or not, “signed off” on the incident. It happened Tuesday morning at the Kakavijë customs post. An Albanian customs officer crossed the border and drew the attention of witnesses because he wanted to carry out the most innocent act in the world: to satisfy personal needs. The Greek guard’s eye was vigilant. The customs officer’s actions seemed clearly suspicious, and shortly afterward he was caught in the act.
