“Meat, beware of poisonings”

Appeal from the Veterinary authorities: “Protect yourselves from diseases. Everything in open markets must be checked” “Meat, beware of poisonings” The arrival of the warm weather revives the danger for people Meat sold along roadsides and diseases affecting livestock pose a threat to consumers TIRANE - Beware of meat.” The arrival of the warm season has once again brought back fears of poisonings. In open conditions, poor trading conditions, the lack of hygiene and even the diseases affecting animals have led the veterinary authorities to try to get ahead of the problem. The first cases of poisoning from their use have appeared in hospitals. Although it is only the beginning, the arrival of summer is viewed with concern. “Stricter control in markets and points of sale, but also caution from people themselves” is the appeal being made. Almost throughout the country, apart from the shops where refrigerators are now operating, the roadside sales points also coexist in na- On page 5

Appeal removes the judges: “They did not uphold justice”

From house arrest to prison, Murra, Çami ... The genocide trials resume. They had been interrupted after a complaint by the lawyers TIRANE - Three of the accused of genocide end up in prison cells. The news became known yesterday regarding Prokop Murra, Foto Çami and Qaq Nesho. Yesterday the judge ordered that they be taken to prison cells directly from the courtroom. Thus, yesterday at 3:30 p.m., after the hearing ended, Çami, Nesho and Murra, who until yesterday had been under house arrest, went to the cells alongside several hundred former prisoners. The three of them had been placed under arrest, together with 34 other former party officials, in January of this year. Because of their serious health condition and advanced age, the judges had left them under house arrest, but as of yesterday, following the prosecutors’ request and to avoid the measure of arrest in prison. Thus the second hearing of the trial against the accused Foto Çami, Prokop Murro, Qaqo Nesho, Dilaver Bengasi, Zef Loka and Muho Asllani began with arrests. A season without songs for Pogradec

TIRANE - A season without songs for Pogradec. The tickets have once again been returned to the ticket offices. The lakeside city has been weighed down by the Prespa tragedy and still has not dried its tears. The “96” composers’ tour has stopped a few kilometers away, in Librazh, only deigning to accept Mejava[?] and the evening, the group of artists has returned to the capital with the hope that songs will soon be sung by the lakeside. It had been a special decision by the artists to leave the Pogradec concert, which was due to be held yesterday evening, for another time. A little later it would have been Drilon that could have offered wonderful development corners for the program; music sounds clear and unspoiled in the pearls of bu[?]. Defined as the last limit before crossing the state border toward Tetovo, the marshy city[?] has suddenly found itself very far from the song festival. A few days ago Prespa marked perhaps the darkest moment of its environment. This part of Stina 96 is missing songs in Pogradec. A message of condolences from the protagonists of the touring event for the lakeside city, whose water colors have suddenly turned black. (g.ym.)

“Journey” to the bottom of the swamp

109 passengers torn apart by crocodiles USA, Valujet had also suffered seven other breakdowns WASHINGTON - The bodies of the passengers from the plane that crashed into a swamp about 30 kilometers from Miami are torn apart by crocodiles. None of the 109 people on board managed to survive the disaster. Rescue operations have been hindered not only by crocodiles and large snakes, but also by the airplane fuel, which covers the entire surface of the swamp. Within a few hours, the crocodiles will have ripped all the bodies to pieces, along with the fuel. These animals have found a safe refuge in these polluted waters, police write. The airline company Valujet has announced that it will not disclose the passengers’ names and will not specify their nationality until all families have been notified. The plane, a DC9, was flying from Miami to Atlanta when the pilot reported a breakdown and tried to return to the airport. From the crash site (REUTERS) On page 2

Now the Internet also “speaks” Albanian

100 thousand USD have been spent on the project Yesterday the new system was inaugurated at the ATSH building TIRANE - Now with Internet also in Albanian. At two in the afternoon, the new Internet system was inaugurated at the Albanian Telegraphic Agency. This is the second time this connection has entered Albania; at the beginning it was the People’s Assembly, the institution involved in this, while this time the operation will also have two other important communication and mass-information projects: telex and connection of the Albanian minister Aleksandër Meksi to the representations of foreign embassies in Tirana. ATSH will transmit its daily programs to its subscribers via satellite, while users who have teletext on their television sets can read information from ATSH there. This is how the technical department director, Flamur Kalliu, explained it yesterday at the inauguration ceremony. This connection enables the broadcasting of ATSH news programs via satellite throughout Europe, making it possible for selected clients to “receive” through the satellite all the outputs from ATA. It is a powerful system that has cost a full 100 thousand dollars and the project was implemented through the Italian company Telpress Italia. Now foreign subscribers can connect with us via the internet to find out what is happening in Albania. The closing logo, which will appear at meetings and events and will then be repeated thousands of times, is WWW/telpress/it/ata...[?]
