Close to the Democrats at the moment are the electoral districts that will undergo two runoffs on 30 June. In the third round, PD secured victory in 17 electoral districts. The left suffered a heavy defeat in the centers on which it had focused attention. For LSI? [?], this round was a failure. The strongest electoral districts remain those of the capital. On Sunday the red strongholds and elderly voters cast their ballots. Russia is entering a new phase in which General Lebed's name has become the big surprise of the elections. Rallies were held in a hot political climate. Supporters of the candidates filled Moscow's squares and polling stations. Analysts speak of a repositioning of forces in the second round. In many neighborhoods of the Russian capital, high turnout was recorded. The protest vote seems to have taken the name Lebed.
