Nexhmije Hoxha free from today
After five years in prison, the widow of Enver Hoxha will return today to her home
Nexhmije Hoxha free from today
She had been sentenced by the Albanian court to 11 years
THANË - From this morning on, Nexhmije Hoxha is expected to be released from prison. After her release, this time the former prisoner will have to find a home, because after her sentence she was removed from the Block villa, in which she took refuge in what for 50 years served as a temple. It seems she was destined to suffer that drama of her family to the very end herself. If Nexhmije Hoxha has now paid for the sins of her class, the same cannot be said for her daughter Pranvera and her two sons, Sokoli and Iliri. The latter have been forced to leave Albania to live somewhere in exile. In the last 5 years, they have never once returned to their homeland. The surprise release of Nexhmije Hoxha comes 6 years after the intervention of the former Interior Minister Gramoz Ruçi. Asked for advice he would give her, Ruçi replied briefly: “She should live calmly, without dedicating herself to politics. Albania needs a few more normal people.” During the 6 years in prison, Nexhmije Hoxha had a special regime. From the beginning she was placed in the women’s prison in Tirana, unlike the other political prisoners. Throughout that time she lived in a separate room, without sharing it with anyone. She had full service at all times and the day always found her accompanied by a policewoman. She had a television, a separate bathroom and could move from one room to another without being hindered. Now, at the age of 76, after several difficult years, the widow, former prime minister and member of the Political Bureau seems to be finding freedom. She will no longer be able to return to that part of her life spent in internment and political prisons under communism, but at least she will close this final chapter of her life.

Ali Spahia speaks: "Here are the reasons for our request"

Hajdari
TIRANË - The deputy chairman of the Albanian Democratic Party, Agim Spahia, yesterday asked that Azem Hajdari be removed from the posts he holds in the party until the case of the wounding of the Democratic MP is fully clarified. In an interview he gave yesterday to the news agency ATSH, Spahia asked for the whole matter to be brought to light. In 17 years as an activist of the PD and later as a deputy, Hajdari has been involved in many events that, according to Spahia, have stained the party. Delaying this issue for a further period of time, Spahia writes, amounts to nothing other than uncertainty. On his part, Deputy Azem Hajdari refused to make any statement about this. At his side, the other deputy chairman of the PD, Hysni Selfo, rejected Spahia’s accusations. Spahia adds that the role of the PD in this matter must be clear and that political responsibilities cannot be overlooked.

Students: "Either demands, or a hunger strike"
"Prime Minister Meksi should receive us and answer us"
The Independent Student Union repeats its demands to the Government
From Jamiil [?], student failures
TIRANË - Yesterday and the day before yesterday, at the University of Tirana, students from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, medicine and economics held a protest in which they demanded the fulfillment of several of their requests. According to the students’ representatives, the conditions in the dormitories and the high tuition fees are among the main reasons for the revolt. They demand that Prime Minister Aleksandër Meksi receive them and give them a concrete answer. Otherwise, the students warn that they will go on hunger strike. Some of the lecturers have expressed support for their demands. The students say that without an immediate solution the protest will escalate.

Her uncle wanted to teach her how to shoot
The little girl, tragically struck in the heart, was killed to serve as a “lesson” for her mother
The last embrace in the hospital
Everything revolved around an attempt to save the life of the little girl, who, only moments after being wounded, in the middle of a heart shot, arrived at the Fier hospital. The little heart could not withstand it. The child died almost in the doctors’ arms. The shocking sight of her mother, who burst into tears as soon as she saw her daughter’s lifeless body, is what remains as the heaviest image of this tragedy. Doctors say the bullet went straight into the heart and that any intervention was useless. The little girl had been brought in haste by relatives, but the bleeding had been fatal. According to witnesses, it all began with an irresponsible “game” with a weapon. A child close to her was trying to show her how to shoot when the gun went off. What followed was terror. In the emergency ward the scene was dramatic: screams, tears, and the mother’s final embrace in the hospital.
