Vlorë - At least five times in a row, yesterday and last night, the false alarm about troop deployment in the city has had new consequences. In the afternoon, it was reported that armored columns were moving toward the city entrance, which caused groups of people to gather in the neighborhoods and set up barricades. Witnesses said protesters kept the main road junctions under watch, while the sound of weapons did not stop until late. Since the early hours of the morning, large crowds headed to the center, where they demanded the release of those detained and the withdrawal of SHIK forces. In several places, burned cars and broken windows were seen. Residents said they were afraid to leave their homes. The police and army units stayed at a distance, observing developments. According to unofficial sources, the tension erupted after news spread that three people were being held by force at the local branch. After that, hundreds of young people gathered and marched toward the building. The ensuing clash was accompanied by gunfire and arson. The situation in the city remained unstable throughout the day.

IMF: Loans to Albania, but not for the crisis

Within 10 days, an IMF delegation in Albania TIRANË - The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund published a report yesterday on Albania, stating that the country needs financial assistance, but not to cover the current political and security crisis. The document notes that assistance will be tied to recovery programs and economic stabilization. President Berisha interpreted the report as a sign that the European Union continues to support Albania. According to him, international aid will be focused on institutional normalization and not on directly dealing with the consequences of the unrest. Analysts stress that this wording implies strong conditions and demands for the restoration of order. The article continues on page 3.
