Revenge for the disappearance of the trader
— Revenge for the disappearance of the trader. TEPELENË — Revenge against people from Vlora. The disappearance without a trace of a trader from Tepelena has stirred the anger of his relatives, who have blamed several citizens from Vlora for it. And this was the reason they directed their revenge against people from Vlora, without distinction. They attacked and destroyed two taxis with license plates from the coastal city in Tepelenë, and afterwards did the same to other cars—with the same license plates—at the entrance to Gjirokastra. The police, powerless to act as arbitr[ator] between them, have decided, in order to prevent even more serious incidents, to stop cars with Vlora license plates that seek to travel toward Tepelenë from passing through. A.G., a 35-year-old trader from Tepelena, disappeared under still-mysterious circumstances on Thursday evening. This was immediately “repaid” by his relatives and friends, who blamed several citizens from Vlora for the disappearance. For precisely this reason, yesterday morning they attacked two Mercedes—Mercedes cars with Vlora license plates. The armed group made the taxi passengers get out and then riddled the vehicles with bullets. But they did not stop there. In revenge, they went to the Subash area and meted out the same fate to cars with Vlora license plates. There is no information about the trader from Tepelena’s subsequent fate or about possible victims during these punitive operations. Yesterday, the police set up a checkpoint on the Leptines bridge, at the entrance to Tepelenë, and ordered all cars with Vlora license plates to turn back. At least to avoid sudden [unclear] incidents and others. p. re.
Defeated by armed civilians
GRAMSH — Special forces were met with fighting in the city of Gramsh.
A unit operating on its own was attacked on Thursday afternoon by dozens of armed citizens, who resisted their operation to collect weapons with gunfire. The troops were blocked in the city center and during the fierce battle—in which anti-tank weapons were also used—a police officer was wounded. The special forces withdrew in the direction of Korçë, and only at midnight did the Elbasan police manage to evacuate the wounded man and 11 others who had been trapped in Gramsh. The armed civilians then burned down the police station building and freed several detainees who were being held there. Eyewitnesses say the civilians’ anger was caused by their suspicion that the weapons to be collected would be sold or sent to the north of the country. Sketch of the clash. COURT. HOSPITAL. BALLI. Days of bombs and grenades
Tirana, nighttime explosion at the “Soros” offices
Days of bombs and grenades
Armed students apprehended
TIRANA - The bomb scare continues; an explosive device detonated on Thursday evening in the courtyard of the Soros Foundation offices in Tirana, but fortunately caused no casualties. A bomb alert—there were suspicions that one had been placed at the Ministry of Justice—was precisely what forced Vranicki to change his route. But this time there was no bomb, only a telephone warning from an anonymous female voice. In Korçë, teachers discovered a grenade in the corridor of the eight-year school in the village of Dvoran and, in panic, evacuated their pupils. Meanwhile, in Durrës, police on duty at the eight-year school found a defensive grenade beside a girl. “If it had exploded, it would have caused a real massacre,” they stated at the police station.
