TIRANA - In the corridors, on the stairs and in the cafeteria of the Prime Minister’s Office, Albanian politicians waited late into the night for the news Fino would bring from Berisha. The building where Fino works may have looked like anything on Tuesday evening, but very little like a Prime Minister’s Office. Rumors of an ultimatum arriving from Vranicki seemed to have thrown all the politicians into confusion that day. And yet the Prime Minister’s Office gave the impression of an inn with several entrances, where people dressed in suits or otherwise came and went through its many rooms and offices. TIRANA - An earthquake at the top of the highest financial bodies. An order from Finance Minister Malaj has compelled several bank directors, as well as members of their governing boards, to hand over the keys and make way for other specialists. It began with the National Commercial Bank, where the “refreshing” of personnel has continued at the Savings Bank and the Social Insurance Institute (INSIG). According to Minister Malaj, everything is being done to increase the professional standards in the operations of these important institutions.
