PD-PS, yesterday’s great reconciliation

Nano and Shehu sign the peace agreement "Both sides will accept Sunday’s result, more rights for the future opposition" In Rome the two sides shook hands. Godo and Selfo object, do not sign Nano and Shehu yesterday in Rome (Photo: REUTERS) TIRANA - The parties signed the pact for the future. Yesterday in Rome, at 1:00 p.m., the leaders of the five political forces discussed and drafted the Pact of guarantees before and after the elections. But not everyone ended up signing it. Godo and Selfo refused, justifying themselves by the inconsistency of the other political forces in Rome. Fatos Nano for the PS, Tritan Shehu for the PD and Skënder Gjinushi of the PSD were the three Albanian politicians who signed, thus giving life to a document about which the future will be discussed further. The opposition on Tuesday requested control of the parliamentary committees as well as control of the state, that all normal procedures on voting days be guaranteed, and that after 29 June the government be one of cooperation among the political forces. So the elder council of the Sant’Egidio committee is expected, but even by the end they did not speak out. "The pact must be signed by Albania," said Godo before his own statement. "It is the hand of God itself that is blessing the rebuilding of Albania," Nano said immediately after signing. On page 3

The President says "Yes" to the IMF ANTI-PYRAMID SCHEMES / Head of state decrees the government’s version TIRANA - Berisha signs the document sent to him by Fino on the transportation of the firms that have taken money from the people. Just a few hours after this of the IMF for the signing of the punishment project, the Albanian President gave the OK, yesterday evening through a press statement. Thus, at last, the Agreement of the Pact is expected from the legal ship, and this has also made Prime Minister Bashkim Fino possible. According to the IMF, measures are needed to be put into operation to punish the pyramid companies. Meanwhile yesterday, in an interview, the representative of the Republic signed and sent to parliament the amendments to the law on the financial control of legal persons. This version deals with the import-export companies and their activities. "The decree continues the statement - thus responds to the demands of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank for administration, citizen and competence in administrative action, in the subjective activity of the provisions with which yesterday the decree of the amendments was approved for the amendment." The presidential spokesman adds that the signing also aims to restore public trust in the activity of the firms. In these cases documents have also been signed.

Berisha: "I can’t come, there are elections"

Cancels Crans Montana TIRANA - Berisha says no to the invitation to Crans Montana. "I would like to be among you, but the elections in Albania prevent me from coming." The Albanian President has turned down the invitation that arrived a few days ago from the organizers of the prestigious forum. "I would like to present Albania’s achievements over the years, but the crucial elections do not allow me to take part there." Apologizing for his absence from this forum, Berisha tells Paul Carteron, the organizer of Crans Montana, that "I wish for the new elections to take place in a calm and democratic phase." A year earlier, from this forum, Berisha assured Europe that in Albania elections would be held only in the year 2000, while at the same time not understanding the blows he dealt to ODIHR and OSCE. With yesterday’s letter, Berisha has thus dampened the opposition’s speculation and the recent days’ rumors about his possible visit to Switzerland and early departure from the government. Also yesterday, the head of state went down to zones 56 and 57 of the capital to receive democratic and PD candidates. Berisha
