The alarm over killer water breaks out
Residents testify: ammonia and feces in the pipes "could have spread cold and cholera"
Headline / KTHI SHNORES
LAÇ - Streams of tears and white handkerchiefs. Pale anxiety above the ammonia pipe, a scream on a baby’s face and tears that are not only unshed but foul-smelling. The curled-up body of the boy on the chest, the hand of a grandmother, the clenched fist of a boy. This is the scene on Thursday at the former wood combine in Laç, where residents complain that drinking water has been coming out of the taps smelling of ammonia and feces. Residents say the situation has alarmed them, since for days they have been using water that may be heavily contaminated. They speak of the risk of an epidemic, of sick children and of the fear that cholera may strike them. At the scene, families have been seen filling containers with water, citizens protesting and others demanding immediate intervention from the authorities.
