TIRANA—Frano Lila, Metropolitan Archbishop of the Diocese of Shkodër, has died. Another loss for all Catholic believers, following that of the first Albanian Cardinal, Mikel Koliqi. His Excellency was born [sic] earlier, at the age of 78, in his native city. He was born on February 21, 1919, in a village in Shkodër. The Archbishop completed his higher studies in Xenhovë, Italy. According to the Cathedral’s family members, Monsignor Lila, the Archbishop, the Albanian Episcopal Conference decided yesterday that the funeral ceremony would be held at the Cathedral on Saturday. The ceremony is expected to last more than two hours, during which a speech will be delivered by the authorities and by the President of the country himself, Rexhep Meidani. Yesterday, liturgies were held in the square by the Archbishopric building, and an altar was set up in the Cathedral.
