Masked men threaten Mazreku

Two mysterious armed people spread panic at the Court Alarm and tension around the building where the trial of Hajdari’s uncle is expected. A RENEA monitor intervenes Police begin investigations into the two unknown attackers, but until yesterday: “No comment!” Kosovars in the street UNIVERSITY KOSOVA STUDENTS Yesterday’s protest in Prishtina Sketch of the scene “Zhan d’Ark” Blvd. where the attackers are seen “Pjetër Budi” School F.N.SH. police officers 2 m Wall F.N.SH. police officers Tirana Court Sketch on page 4 TIRANË, they left quickly. Police cars arrived late, when the mystery, with the black suits and gun barrels, was over. Mazreku, protected by a bulletproof vest, had just gotten out of the cell. Azem Hajdari’s uncle, who will testify tomorrow in the trial of the four bandits who wounded him, had been only a few meters away from the attackers. It is still unclear what brought them to the Court. Were they threatening Mazreku, or staging a spectacle for the public? Both leads are being investigated. In any case, for 40 minutes, at the place where a sensational trial was expected to begin yesterday, there was a great deal of terror. There were two people on the scene, a man and a woman. A beautiful, young, “aristocratic” woman, a calm man, in a suit and tie. Around noon, shortly before the trial was due to begin, they arrived in front of the Court building in a red “Benz” with foreign license plates. They stopped in front of the main entrance. They got out and, without even closing the car door, walked toward the building with weapons in their hands. According to witnesses, the man seemed to be carrying a submachine gun, while the woman had a pistol. A few steps later, they managed to enter the Court’s surrounding fence. The small police force guarding the entrance froze. Witnesses say the two attackers asked for “the place where Azem’s trial is taking place.” Then they spoke Albanian, with a Kosovar accent. There were moments of panic. People running, police shouting, cars braking hard. Within minutes, sirens filled the area. Special forces and police surrounded the building. But the two people had disappeared. According to the first information, they left in the same red “Benz”. Until yesterday evening the police had given no official information. It only began investigations to identify the two mysterious people. “No comment,” was the only answer. On page 4

The news was made in seconds?

NEW WRITING I was struck by the strange reaction to the rumors about the creation of the Albanian army. Calling it a “military fantasy,” our high officials have been left embarrassed trying to explain where the news came from. Meanwhile, this news did nothing more than show that state information continues to be exhausted. Instead of a clear reaction, there were only lukewarm denials and prolonged silence. In this fog, the public was left without guidance and the news became stronger than the denial itself.
