UDB mines threaten the arms depots in the North

Nano asks NATO for help: 35,000 people at risk On page 4 Yesterday the Prime Minister made such a request to the American president, Bill Clinton. In addition to the unblocking of Turkish aid, Albania is also awaiting a response from the USA and NATO countries to help dismantle the mines and ensure security at the arms depots. Concerned about the serious situation in the north and the danger posed by the depots, the head of the executive has announced that UDB forces have planted bombs in the north. In an exclusive interview for "Gazeta Shqiptare", Prime Minister Fatos Nano stated that "the arms depots in the north are at risk. The mines laid there, as well as the difficult economic and social situation, threaten the lives of 35,000 inhabitants of the area." In a telephone interview for "TV Klan", the Prime Minister also stated that he has sent a letter to President Clinton, asking for NATO's help to "save the arms depots" and the situation on the northern border. On the other hand, official sources said yesterday that the government is awaiting a final response from Ankara and Washington regarding the requested aid. Article on page 4

Zef Brozi: This is how Berisha expelled me

INTERVIEW / For the first time in eight years, from the Court of Cassation from the USA From page 15 TIRANA - "In my testimony in my book ‘On Tears and Bombs’ I described in detail how Sali Berisha removed me and drove me out of our country. At that time we had completely different concepts of justice and how the state should function. But I clearly saw the beginning of Berisha's slide into military dictatorship and into disregard for institutions and the Constitution at the end of May 1992. Later, Sali Berisha also began to see me as an enemy and ordered his people to follow and monitor me and to make my family the target of pressure." These facts, which he expressed in his book ‘On Tears and Bombs’, the former head of the Albanian Court of Cassation, Zef Brozi, who has lived in the USA for years, told "Gazeta Shqiptare" yesterday. Pumpkin gladiators

Camil Buxheli Yesterday, "Gazeta Shqiptare" was the first Albanian newspaper to report that the Tirana Prosecutor's Office had begun investigations into the fall of Azem Hajdari. To tell the truth, I do not know whether it is true or not, but the news seems entirely credible. It suits the character of Tirana perfectly, a city which, as it flees from one crisis to another, has also lost the most elementary features of its appearance. Today's Tirana has become the square where the gladiators of a fallen power gather, seeking bloodshed in order to save themselves. The armed crowd on 14 September was the first native proof of "Revenge for Justice" On page 3

The faults of politics

Kosovo at the Black Sea summit pascal Milo The latest military and police moves by the Serbian government against the Albanian areas of Kosovo have made the situation in Kosovo even more sensitive and delicate. The developments of recent days in Kosovo have taken on dramatic proportions and, as a result, the reaction of Albanian public opinion cannot be indifferent to this situation. The cause of the growing tensions, violence, insecurity and mass displacement of Albanians from their homes is clear and unchanging: it is Belgrade's policy toward the Albanians of Kosovo. Although this policy has been completely discredited by national and international public opinion, by regional and Western political actors, Milošević and his clique do not stop putting it into practice. Hajdari: They want to kill Nano

The PD leader attacks again On page 16 TIRANA - While stating that "in the month of fasting these days should be sacred for Albanians", the chairman of the Democratic Party Sali Berisha said yesterday that "any attempt by certain segments of the government to turn Nano into a pasha and a tower in order to preserve their own power is a doomed effort." According to Mr. Berisha, "the week of 7 January near the religious feast of Easter and the month of Ramadan inspires terrorist acts aimed at the assassination of Prime Minister Fatos Nano." "Where Edi Rama goes wrong"

"Where Edi Rama goes wrong" This is how Enver Robelli, the editor of the "Në fokus" column in the "Milosao" supplement of the "Rilindja Demokratike" newspaper, has described it. It is a harsh criticism by the press worker of the editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Koha Jonë", Edi Rama. This stance by the newspaper "Rilindja Demokratike" came a short time after the debate over Rama's book "Refleksione". But other press workers have also expressed different opinions about Rama's role in public life and his relations with the media. Article on page 6

Vefa's bomb, the Italian mafia?

The unexplained side of the terrorist act There is no proof of authorship by "Revenge for Justice" Once again, the cases of the withdrawal of this violent undertaking made on Monday evening have been unclear. At the very least, neither the police nor the prosecutor's office has managed to produce a convincing and detailed version. Meanwhile, the official page of "Revenge for Justice" has not claimed responsibility for the explosion. If there are any proofs, clarifications or suspicions that the anti-Vefa plan was developed by one of the authors of the "group", there is a good chance they will be made public today.
